Has anyone been to the day out with thomas at Spa Valley Railway in Tonbridge Wells? Is it worth fighting the crowds? My daughter is 3 years old but does love Thomas! Do you get to ride on Thomas and is it a whole day out? Thanks

It was about 26 quid for 2 adults and 2 children, you get to ride on Thomas, well a carridge attached to Thomas for a straight trip up and down to Groombridge, as far as I know there was no option to get off and come back on a different train.
While you are waiting for your train ride you get to go on Terence and see diesel etc which are parked up and theres a few Thomas themes game type things which you pay extra for.
Its shabby, but dd may not notice that if shes a major TTT fan, but I personally felt it wasnt worth the money, but im glad we did it ifkwim.
Its not a whole day out but 10 mins walk away there is the Wellington Rocks, which is a pile of rocks in the middle of a pretty common that is excellent for climbing over and if you take a picnic for lunch is an ideal place for it.
Ask someone and they will direct you.
There is a place to eat at TTT but V.expensive.

The Thomas Day Out in Bo'ness is well worth it. There's entertainment (bouncy castle, roundabout)at the departure end (to keep the kids occipied while one of the adults queues - definitely worth getting there early) and various of Thmoas' friends trundling backwards and forwards in the station. You can also get on to Thomas and one of the volunteers will let you (or your child!) play with various of the knobs and levers - as long as it is safe) You then get on one of the trains (usually not Thomas, but one of his steam friends).

At the other end, there is face painting, another bouncy castle, roundabout, magician, oooh, lots! Plus there are nice places to picnic.

When you've had enough, you get on Douglas or woever is the next one to make the trip up the line, back to the station.

All that is included in the price - so well worth it.

Why not look on the web to see what they do at Spa Valley?

where janz?
we are thinking about going to the bury-ramsbottom . anyone been there?

Mummysurfer - I found details here . It looks like every "day out" is done slightly differently - fr example, you would still need to pay a small charge for the bouncy castle, face painting etc, whereas at Bo'ness (near Edinburgh) it was all included.

thanks janz
think we'll be making the trip as ds is 5 now so it's probably now or never
