Has anyone been there recently? I'm trying to plan a midweek break with ourselves, my sis, her dh and dd for November this year.

There's a facility on the booking thing that lets you pick your villa, which quite appeals to me, however, there's no guidance as to whether you're on the ground floor or not (I did think they were all gf but the description of the accomodation mentions patio or balcony, so I'm a bit confused).

Could anyone who's been recently enough to remember their villa number advise me on whereabouts the best locations are, given that we'll be going with a 2.9yo and a 1.11yo?

Looking on the sitemap, it seems that nos. 550-580 and 801-830 are nearest the main buildings/restaurants etc, could anyone please confirm that for me?

Thanks bunches

Sorry - did go recently but can't remember the details you ask. I DID find the phone staff really helpful in answering my questions though.

Lovecat, only the hotel and the very large 2-storey luxury villa (I think called Exclusive) have a balcony. The other villas (the comfort, comfort plus, executive) are all one level so ground floor and have a patio.

We have been this year and stayed in 812 which was a nice easy 5 mins or so level walk into the main area, do bear in mind that this section does back onto the lake so take care with the little ones on the patios, or you could go for one on the other side of the road. Of course backing onto the lake means you get plenty of wildlife on your patio looking for food for most of the day! We went with our 2yo, and the thing that drove us mad was that it is an open plan kitchen/lving area, so my LO spent most of the time running into the kitchen area opening the fridge, cooker, dishwasher, cutlery drawers etc etc. We have also stayed in 138 which seemed quite a bit further away, and if we went again we'd definately pick 812 area again.

Thanks very much for all the advice - very helpful and much appreciated!

Car, we have the option of villas 809 and 810 atm, so hopefully we'll go with one of them. When we were in Majorca last year our patio opened onto a ruddy great duckpond - dd was 18m then and it was a bit of a mare, but we managed, so nothing we're not used to! She already has the run of the kitchen, so open plan holds no fears...

More worried about my sister's dd, sis has got PFB syndrome in a big way (I, strangely, seem to have skipped straight to 3rd-child-benign-neglect with our dd...) and so I'll have to discuss it all with her or the week may be a nightmare... the OH has already said that if she brings the 'industrial machinery noise' cd that she used to lull her dd to sleep with last year, he's going to go sleep in the woods...

Lovecate, hope you don't mind me asking but what is PFB syndrome?

One thing we found being near the lake was the ducks could be noisy waking up in the morning (it seemed to be dawnish time!). It did wake me up, but not my little one!

Also will the children be in beds or cots? The cots supplied are quite small. We took our own travel cot but the bedrooms are fairly small in comfort/comfort plus accommodation, and only one of the bedrooms would fit our travel cot in.

Hope you have a great time, we ended up in A&E in Bury St Ed with my daughter having a "pulled elbow"

Lovecat · 16/04/2007 19:34

Oh Lord, Car25, I'm sorry to hear that

Both the dds are in cots atm - we are hoping our dd will be in a bed by then (she'll be 2.9 by then and is already expressing interest in the bed in her room) but we're going for a 3 bed villa anyway so are hoping to stick the 2 cots in the spare room if needs be.

PFB = precious first born - a kind of state of mind where nothing is too much trouble for your wonderful child, no matter how much hassle it causes everyone around you!

Thanks again

PFB - am pmsl at that. However I also hope I'm not suffering from it!

car25 · 17/04/2007 10:01

Lovecat, we had a 3 bed as well, comfort plus.

Their cots are tiny, I'm sure if you ring them they will be able to tell you the dimensions.

We took a long travel cot, and you might just fit one cot in the double, and one in the larger twin room (however you won't be able to walk round the bed, you'd have to climb over it). The third twin room is tiny. I think they executive lodges have bigger bedrooms, but you'd need to check.

Lovecat · 17/04/2007 19:33

Well, we've booked - we're in 805 (comfort plus)!

I will ring and ask about the cot sizes (desperately praying dd is going to be in a bed by then, now!) - although it says 'full size wooden cots' on the website, I'll make sure before we decide whether or not to pack our travel cot.

Once again, thanks for the tips - really looking forward to it all now!

We have been a number of times and the cots are full sized cots, but not cotbeds. We have cotbeds at home so they seemed very small to us. We stayed in a comfort villa last time and have previously stayed in Executive. The comfort rooms were on the samll side. I cannot see that you would be able to fit two travel cots in one room even if you moved furniture around.

Lovecat · 18/04/2007 08:43

Thanks for that IlanaK, both our dds are on the short side and at the time of writing are still in normal cots, so if they're proper, full sized cots that shouldn't be a problem.

Just have to hope dd doesn't shoot up dramatically between then and now!
