Packing help for first sun holiday and bring a buggy or not?

Help settle a matrimonial dispute, oh wise mums netters. DH think there's no need to bring our light, umbrella buggy for 4yo DS; he thinks he'll be fine without it. I think that it'll be really useful for the airport/walks in the evenings/etc when little legs get tired and also in case he wants to have a sleep while we're out in the evenings. What do you think?
Also, we're going to Canaries for Oct half term - 2 adult and 2 kids - have just begun thinking about packing but Ama little lost as to where I should begin - it's our first sun holiday so any packing tips/lists for a week all-in resort holiday?

I wouldn't take a buggy for a 4 year old, no.

I would bring the buggy.

You know your 4 year old - I would take one for my 5 year old ! For the record my 5 yr old doesn't go in a pushchair but if we wanted to stay out late at night or walk far I would if I thought it would make the holiday easier, plus I know my 5 yr old would be happy to curl up and sleep in the pushchair

Does he usually go in a pushchair? How far are you from a beach? If in doubt, take it. It will be useful for lugging beach stuff around if nothing else.

Just 4 then yes. Almost 5 then no. You know your child though so tbh only you can decide.

Umbrella fold strollers are great on holiday as a restraints / resting place at airport/busy places, brilliant for promenading after a meal at night, useful for carting stuff to the beach or having a nap. I kiss mine - youngest DC now 7, I had to buy a shopping trolley for the beach!

Depends what you envisage doing, I would want to take one for walks after dinner or longer walks during the day. If you're planning to spend all day on the beach and not go very far from the hotel then probably not necessary.

It could be hot or it could be very windy so I would recommend layers!

I didn't take one for my 3yo this summer, but did put her in it once and put the baby in the sling. If he uses it sometimes here then take it. Also great for carrying shopping and water if you're self catering. We all took turns pushing the empty buggy to the supermarket!

Thanks all - we're going to take it! DH still dubious but DS is just 4 and has little legs - he tries his best to keep up with his big brother but in the interest of avoiding tears and tantrums at 9pm as we try to get back to our hotel from an evening out/on a long walk I'm going to bring it along, even though we don't use it generally at home. Good thinking re layers and wind - hadn't thought about that, was just focused on the temperature!
