That's it really. I was thinking of the Ritz, (but I have no idea of costs ), but is there anywhere that tops The Ritz?

The Ritz is £35 per head and is utterly memorable ... DH took me for my 30th birthday. Check on lastminute.com for deals. Also, think the Park Lane Hotel does it and it is around £21 per head ...

it is unbelievable (you do get seconds but in a posh way LOL!!)

oh no - The Ritza can only do tea at 11.30 or 19.30! I'm taking her to the Sound of Music in the afty, so I guess tea will have to be lunch.

The Ritz, Claridges, The Dorchester, you want one of those grand old places I reckon.

tea at the Ritz

tea at Claridges

The Dorchester

tea at The Landmark

or The Waldorf if you can have tea in the Palm Court, very beautiful

she loves fashion (she was a buyer for a dept. store in her 'youth') - will take a look, thanks

Claridges is nice for afternoon tea too. I'm not sure how it compares to the Ritz, but I took my mum there for her birthday one year and she really enjoyed it.

WideWebWitch · 09/04/2007 19:49

Oh I've just twigged, did The Berkely used to be called something else? I had drinks there for my 30th but hadn't registered. Well, I suppose it was a bloody long time ago.

hello wicked! I've had afternoon tea at the ritz, the dorchester and claridges (among others! - I'm a sucker for tea and cakes!) and my vote goes to claridges. It was the Queen Mum's favourite (God rest her soul), surely you can't beat that for a recommendation . Staff at the Ritz can be a bit sniffy and the afternoon tea area in the Dorchester is a bit like a fancy corridor.

suejonez · 09/04/2007 19:53

Just to buck the trend - we used to go for tea at the Meridienne hotel in Picadilly. Less traditional than the Ritz (in a lounge rather than tea room) but I thought it as a nicer tea and far less produciotn liney than Ritz or Brown.

chonky · 09/04/2007 20:40

Thanks everyone. I'm sorely tempted by Claridges myself, but I think I'll put it to her. I quite fancy tea at Claridges followed by a cocktail or two!

have just seen that champagne tea at Claridges is £38..hmmm

My friend had afternoon tea at the Ritz, this weekend.
They do cucumber sandwiches. How cool is that.
