Need your best tips mumsnetters!
This is my 40th birthday present from dh, on our own for 4 nights Grin
Not sure I want to do depressing holocaust stuff..
Is £170 for dinner at the revolving TV tower a rip off?
Any suggestions if where else to go for nice unpretentious food?
So excited!

Thanks in advance Wink

Go to The Bird (I think they have two branches now) and eat the best burgers of your life. Seriously, they're amazing. I've recommended it to several people since I went a couple of years ago and I'm pleased to say they've all agreed with me!

Whereabouts are you staying?

Guided cycle tour round the WW2 sights. Brilliant.

Don't miss the DDR museum, the Spy museum, Gardens of the World, Tiergarten (in the sunshine), The Story of Berlin or the Game Science Centre. The Currywurst museum is good for a laugh and the Anne Frank centre in Mitte is fascinating, even if you're not keen on Holocaust stuff.

Urban Adventures do a great day trip, the food halls in the nice department stores are fab, trip to the glass dome at the Reichstag you have to register before arriving.

Cookies Cream! Amazing vegetarian food (we went as 3 carnivores and a veggie) in a great atmosphere. It's really hidden away and you need to book, but it's a meal you'll remember for a long long time. I'd go back in a shot if I went back to Berlin.

Lots of nice places in East Berlin too - I forget the name of the street, but there's an area with LOADS of nice places together.

We did a segway tour, which was a great way to see lots of the city and get your bearings.

The amazing department store is apparently worth a visit (for the patisserie, if nothing else) - but don't do what we did and go on Sunday when it's closed.

It's my second favourite city (after Budapest) - you'll have a blast!

The Jewish History Museum is extraordinary. There's a bit of holocaust stuff but from a very interesting art/design interpretation.

The dome at at the top of the Reichstag is worth a visit too.

Loads of amazing places to eat and drink.

Do th Segway tour, it’s absolutely brilliant. Also do topography of terror museum, I hate museums, but this is fascinating.

I agree with sniffydog that the dome at the Reichstag is worth doing. You need to book a time slot online in advance, but it's free. If you cleverly book at dusk, you see the city lights coming on. About as romantic as it gets in Berlin.
