I'm trying to plan for DH 50th and would like a family holiday that isn't 'standard'. I'm lacking inspiration and I'm always wowed jealous where other people go.

Hit me with your trip of a life time triumphs. We're active, like doing and looking, and flexible on location.

Thanks

We did a train trip from UK to Hong Kong over three weeks, with stops fir a few days in Moscow, Mongolia, Beijing and Hong Kong. You have to be prepared to rough it a little, it's by no means luxury. It was brilliant fun though. We also loved Vietnam, India, Cuba and Canada. I'd say think about how much travelling you want to do while there and whether you want beaches, cities or a complete change in culture etc. That should help narrow it down.

Icelandair do flights to the USA then you can stopover in Iceland on the way back for up to 7 nights at no extra (flying) costs. Complete contrast between a big American city with lots of sightseeing and shopping then the natural beauty and wonder of waterfalls, glaciers, whale watching.

Love the train idea... think the kids might find that tough though. One for when they no longer want to come with us sob

We are off to Iceland next summer, Spa so really looking forward to that.
