Alfresco v Eurocamp

MiniCooperLover · 24/09/2017 15:04

We stayed with Canvas this summer in Le Croix du Vieux Point and our accommodation was so bad, tiny and really dated. Pretty disappointing as we'd been at that park with Eurocamp before and had enjoyed it (the difference in price should have given it to me I guess).

Has anyone stayed in Alfresco accommodation before? We are looking at a couple of camps in Costa Brava and the difference in price between Eurocamp and AlFresco is pretty decent. Don't want to make the same mistake again?

Cheers

MiniCooperLover check out Lifestyleholidays.co.uk. We've been with them the last 5 years and they have fab large mobiles, aircon, decking, bedlinen included. I'd recommend them highly.

mirmc · 24/09/2017 15:21

Way cheaper than Eurocamp or Al Fresco too.

hoyhoy44 · 25/09/2017 10:31

Eurocamp and Alfresco are both part of the same company and on smaller sites the couriers usually run both, I'm not sure what the differences are as such but i have joined a Eurocamp group on Facebook and most people do seem to be saying quality is declining so worth looking into lifestyle, Suncamp or even book with the site direct

Thank you! Have looked into lifestyle and v excited by their caravans! How do people do their journeys there? With a stop off or straight down ??

We always fly. Ryanair and Jet2 go to Gerona. Car hire in Spain is really cheap.

We did eurocamp this year. Pitch for the mobile home was awful I refused to stay there. They moved us to a different one, it was better but very dated.
I'd only go eurocamp if I was booking the top accommodation but that sells out quick

swizzlestix · 28/09/2017 06:31

Mirmc can I ask what sites you'd recommend please? Ideally not too long a drive from the airport.
Thank you

Hi swizzlestix,
I've been to loads of sites in France and Spain, but my favourite is El Delfin Verde.
We've been 3 times with Lifestyle, but the campsite's own accommodation is fabulous!
Going to Cypsela this year for a change. Hope it's as good!
They are both 40 minutes from Gerona

hoyhoy44 · 28/09/2017 15:00

another one who has been to lots of sites in france and spain ,our dc are older now so mainly opt for quieter sites and we take our own caravan but we have friends who loved El Delfin Verde and it looked a lovely site when we visited them one year. Not that reviews are everything but it is the highest rated site on eurocamps site in that area of spain
the area around Sant Pere Pescador is a popular area and we loved the direct beach access and plenty of nearby areas to explore

swizzlestix · 29/09/2017 07:03

Thank you both that's really helpful. Good to know so Claire we to airport, wondering if best option is car hire or just to get a taxi. Lots to thank no about Smile

El Delfin Verde (plus Nautic Almata IF it is still there).

El Delfin is HUGE. Masive dolphin shaped pool, right on the beach. Nautic Almata is the same but their beach is larger and has lots of water sports and the river comes right out into the sea.

There was one in Bahia de Roses but I can't remember what it's called. :/

If you get a chance go to Cadaques. It's in the mountains, hair-raising but gorgeous. Salvador Dali either lived there or painted his artwork there. Can't remember.

We booked through Eurocamps this year but didn't read the small print- turns out we were in an Al fresco mobile home instead! Very disappointing and not to the standard of the Eurocamp accommodation on the same site. Don't make the same mistake!

rosy71 · 01/10/2017 19:30

We have been with both and preferred Al Fresco. We had a brand new mobile home and it was cheaper than Eurocamp. When we were away this year, I noticed some of the Eurocamp mobile homes were old Al Fresco ones. I think I'd be disappointed if I'd booked with Eurocamp and that happened.

mammmamia · 01/10/2017 19:35

I've been to La Croix de vieux pont twice with Al fresco in the last 3 years and the mobile homes have been pretty new each time - not dated at all. Not seen inside the Euro camp ones.
Good thread though as looking for new ones to try so thanks OP!

I think it is luck as to where in its life cycle each van is. You could phone and ask the ages of the vans on each site.

We had a great holiday at Vilanova Park with Lifestyle. They were fairly new then but they could well be the same ones now, only 4 years older.

Whinesalot · 01/10/2017 19:41

We flew and hired a car.

mirmc · 01/10/2017 19:56

Our Lifestyle mobile was really old, but in a great location onsite. That was 4 years ago. We only booked in January though, so all the big mobiles were gone. Fab site though and the reps were amazing! They were a couple Nigel and Hayley who live in Spain year round. They would collect your washing, wash, dry and fold it and bring it back for around a fiver! They were really helpful and had a wealth of local knowledge.
