Eurocamp's price rises for 2018 - looking for alternatives

We've been Eurocamping for about 6 years now, and my parents also took us Eurocamping as kids so seasoned veterans.

They've always not been a cheap holiday option for super handy with small kids with the onsite facilities in the French campsites and the kids clubs.

Eurocamp were bought out several years ago by a French company and prices have been steadily on the increase. This years price increases are phenomenal - I think some prices are up 30-40% on same holiday prices from this year.

So my question is what's the alternative to Eurocamp? We have three kids aged 3, 6 and 9 by the time we travel next school summer holiday, enjoy the pool, beach a bonus and some kids activities/clubs included as well.

We're probably too young for a Mark Warner type holiday (and they aren't cheap either) so what would people who've moved on from Eurocamp recommmend. European Center Parcs? Other non UK rivals to Eurocamp with other sites offered? Something else?

Look forward to hearing your thoughts and maybe inspiring some debate!

If you book now there is 30%off for next year.
We hadn't done eurocamp for years but did a week last minute this summer the accommodation was poor.
Booking direct with the site you want could be an option. Or yelloh, Pierre et vacances etc
We moved on to Neilsons but ours were pre school then, prices in school hols are ridiculous!

Duinrell in Holland is fab. There are vaious options, Eurocamp, Canvas I think and Duinrell's own caravans/camping. It's a woodland campsite with onsite theme park and pool complex. Cycle paths to a lovely beach and about an hour from Amsterdam.

We get the loyalty discount every year - even then it's too expensive when year on year they've lobbed on 30% to the price

Also suggest booking direct with the campsite or have a look at vaconsolei camping. I've used them a few times and always found them pretty good value for money.

ukcampsites have details of french sites, and castle sites are always of a certain standard so you could search for those and book direct

We like canvas holidays, less parcs with kids clubs and some of their older vans etc aren't great, but the family extra sites are really good. Cheaper than eurocamp too.

You can get fabulous accommodation when you book direct with the campsite, see eldelfinverde.com but often you are restricted to Saturday arrival. Weekend flights are generally the most expensive. Lifestyleholidays.co.uk are great value. Any day arrival/departure. No brochure or kids club so they keep their costs low. Can't beat campsite holidays with kids. Have tried hotels, apartments, villas, but always go back to the sites. The kids love them. And happy children, happy parents.

Definitely look at booking direct.

In the past we've used the Canvas holidays brochure to help find campsites (we find they do pick v v good ones) and then booked directly with the campsites.

This will be a general problem for summer 18 due to the devaluation of the pound.

The pound has dropped around 25% in a year or so.

The UK holiday companies book their spots on campsites in euros.
Am sure a lot of then took quite a hot in summer 17 and are looking to recuperate some losses or protect themselves.

Most Campsites have their own lodgings and you can book direct.

eurocamp simply rent you tents and stuff on a site - usually with loads of other operators like canvas also renting stuff - so simply use another operator or book direct

Eurocamp has had awful summer of complaints with quality issues and staff, amazed they have put prices up

pinkchampagne1 · 26/09/2017 22:14

Have you looked at Venue holidays? Similar to Eurocamp but a smaller company and tend to work out cheaper.

We got a double loyalty discount for 2018 as we booked less than 30 days after our 2017 return. I've looked at booking direct with sites but the sat arrivals make ferries etc more expensive and we are visiting 3 sites which we can do easily with eurocamp. I didn't find it more expensive than this year but the booking lady spent ages playing with different dates and ferries within school holidays which saved a bit! We took our own tent a couple of years ago and booked through select sites which was cheap but hard work. I think European holidays are more expensive in general.
