When to book Ryanair flights?

Please don't say "never"!!! Grin

We are planning a holiday to Crete next August, and Ryanair fly to Chania where we want to go.
I've never flown with them before, and was wondering if the flights would be at their best price now, or if they get cheaper nearer the time?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi, book them as early as possible. The prices won't go and if so, only after they hiked them up.

Avoid booking on a Saturday or Bank Holiday when people are relaxed and have more time for browsing.
I book the same Ryanair flight every year on specific dates. I check the price as soon as they're available but buy them about a month later. I also bear in mind what price I want to pay.
Less than a month and the prices start rising.
The day before they're really high. I sat next to a person on a flight once who was travelling to a (potential) deathbed and had paid 5x my price. Sad
Oh yes, Ryanair is up to all the tricks!

Also, erase your cookies.
They remember you between visits Wink.

We're also looking at Chania for next August funny enough. Not sure where you're flying from but if it's the South East then Norwegian & Easy Jet fly from Gatwick to Chania. The Stansted prices for Ryanair look pricier for the return than I was expecting so I'm hanging in to see what Norwegian & EasyJet have!

namechangedtoday15 · 15/09/2017 13:35

SJane do you know when Norwegian flights will be released? Am I right in thinking it'll be January before Easyjets August flights will be released?

SJane45S · 15/09/2017 15:08

Hi namechangetoday15 - not sure re Norwegian as they release flights for different routes at different times rather than all together which is confusing & annoying and a case of keep checking! I had a look last week and they still weren't out. My guess would be some time in the next month (we flew with them to Sicily this year and it was mid Sept they were out). I think EasyJet is usually October but the Metro said this week that flights would be released late September for early Summer and apparently July/ August (early/mid summer are usually released at different times but this what the Metro said so ??!). After a few rubbish experiences, my DH will only fly Ryanair with a cattle prod at his back so I'm checking both EJ & N regularly!

PS - Norwegian are currently selling connecting flights for August to Chania but they do a direct flight from Gatwick and those aren't out.

We use skyscanner to give daily prices for the routes we want and the price varies massively. We usually get the best price about 12 weeks before we want to fly but never book at the end of the month, or at the weekend because the price gets hiked.

Thanks everyone :)

After the news about Ryanair at the moment, I'm looking at alternatives!
I'm in Nottingham, so East Midlands is so tempting, but I'm looking at the other options you have mentioned, thank you very much :)

One thing to bear in mind if you do end up booking Ryanair, as I have just done for the simple fact that their flight was the only one at a reasonable time.

They do this really sneaky thing - the prices are quoted in euros right up until it comes time to pay. At that point, if you're paying with a UK credit card they suddenly switch to pounds. Now, if you haven't checked the exchange rate today you might not realise what a horrendous rip-off their rate is, but fortunately for me I had done so and I realised that they were about to charge me £724 instead of the £673 they should have been! That is £50 they were about to rip me off!!!! So BEWARE of that sneaky little trick of theirs.
