Barbados costs and recommendations

Lots of people really seem to rate Barbados. Have found some good flights next summer, but the accommodation seems eye wateringly expensive.
How much would you expect to spend for two weeks for a family of four? We would want two rooms or a suite/villa type thing so not just all cramming into one hotel room! And if hotel rates are not including meals then how much would you spend on food and drink ? Is everything eyewateringly expensive once you are there too?
I found one that seemed to be usd300 a night for b&b but rose to 1400 for all inclusive. I can't imagine we would spend a thousand dollars a day on food and drink, but you never know so I thought I would ask!

It is expensive but you will find all inclusives on a package that are much cheaper than 1400 usd per night. Check virgin etc. Expect to pay minimum of £7-10k for 2 weeks. Private villas are sought after and expensive

We've paid £800 + £1600 for flights. But much earlier in 2018

I've just been quoted £4750 for an ocean front room at 4* AI, 10 nights for 3 of us (2 adults and a teen), W Coast. That is next July. V highly rated hotel on trip advisor and excellent water sports included.

You will spend a lot on food and I find, like for like, that I cannot beat the cost of AI, as our teen is free at the hotel.

Of course you can eat food from vans and the like, but with AI you are talking 3 or 4 course meals and alcohol, and all snacks.

I find Best@travel and BA holidays the most competitive.

We booked Barbados for 2018 Easter holiday, 9 nights, with Virgin economy flights it would have been around 7,500. We opted for AI as I found it easier with a child staying at a resort with unlimited food/drink, generally good kids clubs and all the watersport you want included.

A colleague did B&B and he said while it was nice going out for dinner it is expensive, so I think it depends a bit on what you want from the stay.

We stayed in St. Lucia 2 years ago and the most expensive part of the holiday were the extra trips, so be aware, they can be eyewatering high but in two cases it was so worth the money as we most likely won't do things like this again.

We go every year and absolutely love it. Yellowbird hotel is a boutique hotel in st Lawrence gap - they have a couple of apartment type rooms with more than one bedroom. You simply can't get anything else like it that we've found, every room has sea/beach view, it is literally across the road from a gorgeous quiet and calm beach /bay and only a short walk from slightly busier beaches.

Cost wise for meals etc. It's about the same of reasonable food at home, wouldn't say it's eyewateringly expensive but it is not cheap. However, if you eat local, it can be a lot cheaper. The food is incredible that way. All inclusive is all very well but you miss so much of the island by ending up staying onsite.
