Legoland or Chessington over Easter break?

We're considering taking DS aged 3 to one of these for a day over the Easter break. Is it a mad idea - are they both likely to be heaving with big queues? Any advice which might be the best day? Thanks!

In the nicest possible way....You are insane!!!

Your ds is only 3 so taken him once the holidays are over, it will be much quiter.

I'd rather stick pins in my eyes then go to a theme park during school holidays.

I wouldn't go near them with a barge pole in school holidays! Avoid like the plague and give it another 2 or 3 weeks - it will be lovely after that!

For 3 year old I would do Legoland but go out of holidays if possible and also go on a day that is a bit grey and cloudy.

My dd's loved chessington, there are lots of rides young children can go on and they also have a small zoo.

Thanks! Sounds like it might be a good idea for something other than this weekend!

We are planning to visit a sick relative over Easter who can only cope with an hour or two of visitors each day, and were wondering about the theme parks as something else to do. However I'm sure a bit more research will find us something just as fun (and hopefully cheaper).

We enjoyed both Legoland and Chessington but I am really looking forward to going back to Chessington again. Lots of rides for little ones with much shorter queues than Legoland. bit the best bit about Chessington was the animals. we didn't expect to see tigers, gorillas, sealions, penguins to name just a few. We had a great day!!

Don't know where you will be based but there is stuff to do in Bracknell. Also a place called Odds Farm which might be around there somewhere.

Legoland if he likes cars, trains and miniature buildings, Chessington if he likes animals. There's stuff to do at both that isn't rides - my DS (3.5) spent 6 hours at Legoland on Saturday and 6 hours at Chessington yesterday and only went on one actual ride at each place.

Forgot to say, if you do go to either Legoland or Chessington, to take spare clothes and a towel as there are lots of opportunities to get wet.

was at lego today, wasn't too busy, but would definately go out of school hols if you can.

I prefer Legoland.

  • Food I find is better... more healthy choice options.
  • Legoland is designed specifically for younger children with some things for older siblings. Chessington in my view is better for school aged children.

Certainly Legoland (like all theme parks I suspect) is much nicer when visiting during school term time, it is so different from the mad crowds at weekends and school holidays.

Cacaboo... did you end up going to either theme park?

We went to Legoland yesterday and it wasnt too bad.

Having said that, we have annual passes and we just did a couple of rides and the wet thing where they could run around in swimsuits and then we went home.

IMHO ALWAYS take your own food to these places as the prices are a rip off!
