Geneva next weekend

Taking DH and toddler DS on a surprise 35th birthday getaway for DH to Geneva next weekend. Staying overnight near to airport. Will have a car.

Any suggestions on an itinerary? Will need to fit in lunch with a friend in a village between Geneva and chamonix. Will need to see lake Geneva, perhaps Mont Blanc and some nice places to eat which won't break the bank.

Any thoughts wise mumsnetters?

Are you just there for one night?

You don't have loads of time, but the best way to see Geneva is just head for the lake, and have a walk along the promenade, go and see the Jet d'Eau. Place du Molard is very central and if the weather is nice, sit outside at Pizzeria Molina. Or if you want a lake view, go to La Lacustre. Nowhere in Geneva is 'cheap'! But these are average pricing. There's a little tourist train which is good for showing you round the city; the old town is beautiful. Lots of nice little cafes in Place du Bourg-de-Four.
I don't really know places to eat in between Geneva and Chamonix, but if you have time, drive to Chamonix and have lunch there. It has stunning scenery, a great amusement park Parc d'Attractions - the luge is brilliant fun.
Enjoy! Geneva is lovely.
