Hi we've enjoyed all inclusives in Mexico and Mauritius but want somewhere different for 2018. I'm struggling to find anything good quality for under £5.5k which is what we normally pay for 2 weeks in may for 4 people Inc 2 x 10 year olds.
Ruled out are Turkey, Egypt, Jamaica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Cyprus. I've ruled out senatori resorts as they all gave downsides and ikos Olivia is too expensive.

Key features :
Great sandy beach
Kids club this is what my kids want, or good kids activities
Several restaurants with no restrictions on where you can dine
Upmarket vibe I'm not looking for first choice type places
Plenty to do in area we like to get out and explore.
Have been to most of Caribbean pre dc and do the think our budget would accommodate that.

Am I asking the impossible? Don't want to stretch budget as have other holidays planned.

Thanks!

2014NewMe
Kids clubs have activities all day and in the evening too . It's just that there are specific 'fun' sessions that you book for e.g Krazy Kitchen , movie night etc if you want to go to those . Rest of the time is stay and play . There are also a lot of sports activities and general stuff to get involved with . Aphrodite Hills is Cyprus.
The Retreat is at Ibiza - my in laws went and didn't really enjoy it .
Restaurant booking not a problem - you can book via an app in Cyprus and Crete. But unless you're obsessed with a particular restaurant at a particular time every night it's fine . Buffets are really good too.
Sunbeds are fine where we've been but again we just sit where we see . The adult only pools are dreadful for competitive sunbeds though !!

2014newme · 05/09/2017 15:54

@kendoddsdadsdog Stay and play, does that mean that adults need to stay with them?
I'll have another look at the tenerife one, Ive exhausted the sightseeing in Cyprus so wouldnt return but have never er been to tenerife.

Given holiday villages in Rhodes etc will be 5-6k I think you're asking too much for your budget
Blue lagoon village deluxe, ikos or sani resort halkidiki would have been my suggestion but you don't want tui... And they'll be about £6k anyway...

2014newme · 05/09/2017 16:01

@NewBallsPlease00 Holiday village Rhodes is £4500 for two weeks in may which is when we go so within budget but I would not like it there.

Yes the others you mention are out of budget and the beach at ikos looks gritty.

Update
Thanks all for the recommendations I checked every one.
We've ended up not being able to find what we wanted, it seems it doesn't exist!
So we e gone for the opposite of what we wanted, embraced our inner Butlins and booked first choice holiday village in Rhodes. The kids will love it.

We did 2 weeks in Iberostar Alcudia in Mallorca last May and had a brilliant time. The AI was good and our accommodation was really good with a fab sea view, it was a superior studio with balcony (only 3 of us so it was big enough). We paid £3k so I'm sure for your budget you could get higher end accommodation?

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 02/10/2017 07:21

Beaches resorts in the Caribbean are basically Sandals where you can take kids. Maybe one for next time?

2014newme · 02/10/2017 08:05

@MiniCooperLover thanks but as we're going in may majorca isn't far enough south for decent weather. We're a bit restricted to Greece and canaries at that time of year

Vivienne whenever I've had a quote for beaches it's been £8-10k. I would consider the turks and caucus one but would not fancy jamaica. However we tend to prefer smaller resorts than beaches to be honest so I'm not sure a huge hotel would suit us. I love the Caribbean but like some local flavour

Just to add for the price of Rhodes we could have gone back to Mauritius but we've opted for a short flight from our local airport

Have you looked at Cuba.
Went there a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. We stayed in varaderro. Did a few trips out as we get bored
Went to Havana, jeep safari and boat trips. Had a great time.

MiniCooperLover · 02/10/2017 09:06

2014newme, we had 27/28 most days in Mallorca for the last week of May and first week of June.

2014newme · 02/10/2017 09:20

@MiniCooperLover that's great weather you were very lucky the averages are a lot lower.

@Cassimin how did you find the food in Cuba?

OP posts:
Cassimin · 02/10/2017 20:21

The food in Cuba was fine. Think it depends where you stay. We were in the iberostar tainos.
Staff were lovely and there was plenty of different food to choose from.
They had two specialty restaurants on site a steakhouse and Japanese. Both were lovely. They had to be pre booked and you could only visit each one once per week.
Went to restaurant in Havana and the food was not good.
There was also a strip near the hotel with a couple of bars and restaurants.
Would go again in a heartbeat.

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 02/10/2017 20:43

We loved Cuba. The beaches were amazing (not that I like the beach Grin). We toured around but had 5 days in Varadero at the end. We were in an Iberostar too.

The food was very good. Outside of Vara we did hunt around for private casa particular and avoided the government places though. Lobster was the same price as chicken at a lot of places!

Hersetta427 · 03/10/2017 10:53

We Spent the last 2 weeks in August at HV Rhodes - the kids loved it so I am sure yours will to. The 9 yr old was so busy we barely saw her.

2014newme · 03/10/2017 15:44

Glad you enjoyed it, what was the food like?

OP posts:
Hersetta427 · 03/10/2017 16:27

For all inclusive mass catering it wasn't bad. It was always hot and had plenty of variety (and the salad section was enormous). Always lots for the kids too. We tried all the al a carte restaurants. We loiked the Italian and the greek but didn't much like the American dinner (we probably wouldn't even bother if we went again).

We weren't fond of the daytime pool snack bar (liked the donner kebabs but that was about it) so we would to pop the main restaurant and have a lovely salad and grilled meat. Kids would usually have a big plate of pasta.

2014newme · 03/10/2017 16:43

What I like about Mexico and Mauritius is that you can eat in any restaurant any evening, no needing to book, no limits on where you can dine.
Weve booked deluxe in hv Rhodes I'm hoping it may be less busy in there. We'll eat out quite a bit as well.
Did you hire a car?

OP posts:
Hersetta427 · 03/10/2017 16:55

Yes deluxe will definitely be less busy. Wouldn't have worked for us though as daughter was doing every activity going in the activity pool plus kids clubs and swimming lessons were located in activity - we would have spent all out holiday on the underpass between deluxe and activity sections !

2014newme · 03/10/2017 17:51

How 'Butlins' is it? 😂

OP posts:
Hersetta427 · 03/10/2017 21:10

It's really not but if you want it there is entertainment for the kids from 10am to 11pm. The entertainment is a bit cheesy but the kids enjoyed it even if it wasn't always our cup of tea.
