Where is hot in late September within 4 hours flying of Heathrow?

Thinking ahead to next year, where can dh and I go for last week of September/first week of October where it will be at least 25C and warm enough to swim in the sea? Preferably within 4 hours of Heathrow/Gatwick/Stanstead.

I'd love somewhere in the Med but don't know if it will be warm enough? I'm interested in Malta but don't think it will still be warm by then. We'll rent a villa so it doesn't matter too much if it's an end-of-season place as we're not into bars etc but the option to have meals out occasionally would be good.

Does anyone know if Cyprus is still warm.enough then? Anywhere I haven't thought of? We've done Morocco before in September but I really don't want to do the Atlantic again.

As I mentioned up thread, we have just come back from Cyprus. We had never been before and have completely fallen in love with it. First holiday where I haven't wanted to come home. We had a villa with a pool and had a car and did lots of exploring. DS (17) and DH went snorkelling a lot as we found a tiny rocky cove a few minutes from where we were staying which literally only had one or two other people there. It's a gorgeous place and we can't wait to go back!

Icequeen that sounds perfect. I'm off to research temperatures in Cyprus in September!

In hurghada they don't tend to have villas holiday appartments which share a pool etc. And eating out and about is dirt cheap :)

I have just come back from Cyprus and had the opposite experience. Lovely villa with pool but very dry, dusty, quite run down and tacky in places too.

The mountains were lovely but I would not go back, poor animal welfare too which upset me.

We were staying near Paphos, so maybe a different area to the other poster.

I agree it should be warm in September though.

Southern Spain was hot enough to swim and sit on the beach every day in late September when we went. And not crowded!

We did Kos a few years ago, hot during the day and you could swim in the sea but cooled off at night so you'd need a cardigan, no mosquitos at night either.

Lots of good snorkelling in the Canaries. The Azores tends to be much winder so not representative of the Canaries. We saw lots of fish, sea slugs and even turtles whilst snorkelling in Tenerife last November

I still swim in the waters in Sitges, just south of Barcelona, mid-October, sometimes even past Hallowe'en (just!).

We lived in Andalucia for several years and it was always lovely and warm at the end of September. It's a great time to visit as you could take in some of the must-sees like the Alhambra without the crowds!
