On holiday in Italy at the moment & thinking ahead to next Summer as returning home soon :(

Just wondered what your favourite Summer holiday has been & why?

TIA x

Just got back from fuengirola with ds (13).

Great resort with miles of beach front with water sports all along it. Lots of shops and restaurants, markets, brilliant train and bus service that's very cheap and lots of places to visit (aquariums/zoo/ water parks/ parks/shopping centres/ cable car/ boat trips and marinas etc)

Ds and I have already decided we need to go back to do some of the stuff we just didn't have time for. Well probably have to go back a few times Grin

Did you stay in a hotel or apartment in Furengiola?

We stayed in Gardenia Park which is a hotel and we stayed HB. Food was ok - typical 3* buffet food. Did the job!

However there is loads of apartments along the front that are holiday complexes or others that can be booked individually as as residential complexes.

Lots and lots of bars along the front and I found it to be cheaper than I thought! We didn't eat out as has 2 cooked meals at hotel but we used the supermarket and bought foot long baguettes for €2.50 and massive bags of crisps for €1. Fruit is cheap too. Try also sold slices of freshly cooked pizza etc.
Most people like us who spent the day at beach bought food from supermarket.

One day 2 baguettes, crisps, 4 cans of fizzy, water, sweets and fruit cost me about €10! Other people bought packs of ham/cheese and a large baguette and made their own baguettes but that would be better for catering for more than 2 people! Plus we realised we couldn't manage a whole baguette each so shared one after that!

Definetely not my favourite holiday but our now 23 year olds have really fond memories of a really cheesy holiday we had in Corfu when they were 14/15. Teenagers are pretty basic (or at least ours were!) - for ours it was the the combination of there being lots of teenage boys there, great pool, blue sea, good wifi signal and watching their Dad making a twat of himself on kareoke night. They both fell in love (and were heartbroken for at least 1/2 the bus journey to the airport). In terms of your kids, you know best what they'd enjoy but a safe place where they can have some limited independence & sunshine usually works!
