confused with boarding pass

Help please!
I've just printed my boarding pass for later this week. First time flying Easyjet and I'm confused with the boarding pass.

I did book a seat when I booked the flight. However, at the side of my seat number is 'SB' which I think from searching Google may mean speedy boarding?

I travel hand luggage only and each airline has their own quirks regarding this which isn't a problem but on my boarding pass is a section that says 'Easyjet plus - you can bring one cabin bag and one small underseat bag, however please use Easyjet plus speedy boarding to ensure your space'.

I'm not aware of Easyjet plus and haven't signed up to any annual loyalty type programme so is this part of my boarding pass basically an ad to try to get me to change to this service to get the second bag and speedy boarding thing, or is it printed on there because that's what I've already got?

You've paid for Speedy Boarding as part of your seat purchase, and that's the SB on your boarding pass. That also means you can take 2 pieces of luggage, normally a small handbag plus your wheely. People who've got EasyJet Plus cards (for which they pay annually) get the same benefits.

Just line up in the speedy boarding queue to get on first. Have a good flight!

Thank you. I booked the flight ages ago so couldn't remember and the confirmation email doesn't show a breakdown of what I'd booked (apart from a seat). It confused me that it said Easyjet plus as I understand that is an extra paid for annual service. I travel light but it will be useful not having to put the stuff I might need on the flight into my bigger bag in the locker.

Thanks for the info Grin

When you get to the departure gate there will be two seating areas - one near the door for SB and EJ+ people and one for everyone else. The SB on your card is just to help the staff see at a glance where to direct you. You will then be let out of that room first but the annoying thing is that sometimes the next step is to be loaded onto a bus to be driven across the tarmac to the plane and there is no guarantee that you can get off the bus first anyway!

However you are allowed a second item of luggage, which must be small enough to fit under the seat in front of you so not a suitcase.

Ooohhhhh I'll make sure I get into the correct holding pen Grin. I cba with boarding scrums but I do need to get away pretty quickly at the other end so hopefully the speedy boarding will help prevent the dilemma of cabin bag quota being reached so bags put into the hold. On a lot of other flights, my main bag has fit under the seat anyway but maybe Easyjet have different rules on what can go where?

You're right about the hold thing. On easy jet they have two sizes of cabin bag you can on. The smaller is the one that fits under the seat and they won't put that in the hold (although they have tried more than once). The larger size is quite big and goes in the lockers until there is no more room.
SB annoys me because half the passengers are so flipping slow. Why not make SB just for people that have under the seat luggage. Then we can all be sat down why the locker people faff about.
And load back to front. So I don't have to wait whilst people in the rows in front take off their jackets in the aisle to put in lockers, remember they have left their book in the bag, try rep early to ram the too big a bag in the locker and then squeeze down the plane to find space...and breathe....

I've had an email from ej cheerily offering an upgrade to take my hand luggage to the bag drop off point so that I can fly hands free. For a fee of £4 Hmm

I've chosen to fly hand luggage only as I'll be in a rush at the other end and I'm only away for a few days so who needs loads of 'stuff' with them for a bog standard long weekend somewhere warm?

First time I've flown with Easyjet and I must say, I'm amused with their constant attempts at upselling Grin

Hmm. It may not be upselling. It maybe their way of managing everyone's cabin baggage.

They only alllow a certain amount of hand luggage in the cabin as they don't have room for it all. So loads of cabin bags get put in tne hold anyway, free of charge, at the gate.

And a recent thread on here reported many instances of tne first people on as the ones who lost their cabin bags to the hold.

poppym12 · 23/08/2017 10:46

I wondered that too testtube. Maybe they haven't had many notifications of hold luggage to be expected. Bugger. I was going to take my squashy wheely bag but I might err on the side of caution and dust my rucksack off.

Do they have a limit on speedy boarding - I mean what happens if everyone has it?

poppym12 · 23/08/2017 20:01

I'm such a knob. It seems I've booked extra legroom, hence the what I thought was random speedy boarding and extra bag. I remember booking this flight now, just after I'd travelled with a different airline and been really cramped.

The last two times I flew Easyjet ( both this year) they offered to bags in the hold for free. Actually I asked the second time and they jumped on it.
As no one puts anything in the hold anymore it really wasn't any slower. The long walk from the plane to the terminal and threw passport control meant bags were out before I was.
It was lovely not having any bags on the plane actually. So freeing !
