I want to take my dd's abroad for the first time next year, they will be 12 and 14, both have ASD. We would prefer somewhere cultural and not a big holiday resort as we prefer not to share are space with others. I would prefer to be close to the sea but it's not a must and not a city.
I have never booked a holiday so have no clue what I'm doing.

Any recommendations on locations and/or travel agents?

Mallorca is a safe bet, I guess. Otherwise you could visit Stockholm (it's not really a big city more town-like) and book with "STF hostels" (search word: swedish tourist association) it's also a pretty safe bet as everyone here will speak English and there are plenty of "cultural" things to do, and seaside not so far off (it's called "the archipelago"). You can travel around the entire area with an equivalent of an Oyster card so it's really easy to arrange, but that's just my guess.

Geneva? You can get good priced flights (though accomm will be pricey). Gorgeous, safe, not overwhelmingly big place, with lots of cultural stuff, beautiful lake (in lieu of seaside), beautiful mountains and beautiful park with lots going on in it. Did I say it was beautiful?Smile

As a tourist you get a pass entitling you to free travel. You can travel round lake, pop over to France etc!

The alps in the summer are stunning. You can hire ski chalets much cheaper than in winter, there are gorgeous walks, ski lifts running to get you up the mountains, lakes to swimmin and lovely spa pools. You need to be able to hire a car though.

Another lovely option are the islands off the Swedish coast.

Gothenburg is close to the sea, not a big city. Really easy tram system to use, tram passes also give access to the ferries to the islands in the archipelago. Some are very very quiet and car free. Some nice museums and parks.

Thank you, some great ideas, Gothenburg sounds great as does Sweden. I will have a look online later at prices.
