Recommendation for Kendal B&B's

I’m looking at taking my DS for a “boys break” in the Lake District at half term. We will probably use Kendal as our base.

Can anyone recommend any reasonably priced, but still good B&B’s (or similar) in that area. The only real requirement is that it needs to have included parking on site.

I used to live close by to that area and at the time (which was a decade ago admittedly) I did go walking frequently. So I have an good idea about which walks are suitable for DS and what clothing we should be taking with us (yes, let’s go up Scafell with flip-flops, shorts and carrying no food).

Thanks In advance ;)

We stayed in one in Brigsteer that was pretty good - v traditional B&B but excellent breakfast! Plumtree House. I think Lumley Fee Bunkhouse looks fab though.

My parents stayed at sonata on burneside rd, just a few min walk from the centre ( we lived nearby so they stayed there when visiting). They really rated it and raved about the breakfast. It's permit parking, permit is supplied
There's also a premier inn now, there's a car park but think you have to pay.

Thanks for these suggestions.

Unfortunately many of the guest houses seem to have issues with younger children (the Sonata as an example). DS is 8. Many of the others have very little parking.

I might have to cast my net beyond Keswick. It would be nice to be in a town as there will be more food options.

Possibly the YHA's are an option I wonder?

Is Keswick too far? My dad and step mum own a B & B just outside, there's parking on site and they welcome children. Google Thornthwaite Grange.

Thanks for that. Yes, I was considering Keswick as well.

That's an interesting little B&B which I'll file for future reference.

But in this case my issue with that location is that it looks like it would be a bit too far to walk to the nearest pub/restaurant (which looks to be in Braithwaite).

In the ideal world I'd like to be within walking distance, as that gives me the option of having something with my meal :)

Just to say I love Keswick. Great eating, lovely pubs and walks straight from the town.

Not sure if it's outside your target area but we had a nice stay at The Fisherbeck in Ambleside a couple of years ago. It has its own parking and you can walk to various restaurants. Also has a little bar of its own I think, in case you want a nightcap Smile. Not sure about the policy on kids I'm afraid, but it has a website which may tell you more.
