Has anyone booked Summer 2018 yet?

I'm a holiday obsessive and booked our summer holiday for next year already?

Myself, DH and DSs (15 and 9) flying to Dubrovnik, 4 nights in an apartment in the old town for exploring and boat trips out to the islands.
Hire car and drive to Durmitor national park in Montenegro. Lake swimming/hiking/cycling for 3 nights. Then 4 nights on the bay of Kotor in a small resort with a pool.

Anyone else?

Not yet, I normally book in January when there's a bit of a sale on but I've decided on Malta in August and maybe a few days in Majorca over the May half term. Tied to the school holidays for the next 12 years!

Not booked anything yet but thinki of doing Eurocamp in northern Spain next year and then something big in spring/early summer 2019 before DS starts school - want to brace long haul flights with him to either the US west coast or Aus/NZ as we have friends and family in both places.

Ah yes, I didn't mention that I've already booked Lisbon in April for me and DH and May half term in Brittany.

I'm obsessed.

New York in February and Portugal in August with a free child's place. All sorted now I just need to pay for it.

Pretty confident that we are doing a Norwegian fjords cruise but I need to wait for DH holiday allocation opening before I firmly book anything.

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 16/08/2017 07:57

Norwegian fjords are on my list, what time of year are you thinking of going?

Booked for this October then easter next year, when that one's paid off we'll decide whether to do a summer one or October again. I like to book early as I've found leaving it to the last minute in school holidays just means prices jump up and we end up paying over the odds. There's not many good deals in holidays unfortunately 😐

I am hoping to go in July next year on a P&O cruise. I'm spending quite a lot of time researching but pretty confident that's what we will do.

KeepCalm · 16/08/2017 16:34

@Dailystuck71 waiting on allocation is a total mare isn't it. My Dh also gets told when his is. It's one of the main reason am self employed!

KeepCalm · 16/08/2017 16:36

Ironically DH has literally just texted me his. April, September or December 🙄

Dailystuck71 · 16/08/2017 19:18

DH gets his in November for the following 1 may to 30 April. Means we always lose out on good flight deals as we are too late in booking.

KeepCalm · 16/08/2017 20:19

@Dailystuck71 that sucks! What if you had an event idle something? Do they allow for special occasions etc?

Dailystuck71 · 16/08/2017 20:45

Keep, they did when my niece got married in Australia a couple of years ago. We got to book in the flights in the June instead of waiting on the holiday diary opening in the November.

It's a monumental pain. I just want to book now and plan.

KeepCalm · 16/08/2017 20:57

Completely understand @Dailystuck71

It's now got the point where the DC and I plan trips regardless and if he can join us then it's a bonus.

Sorry to hear it's not just us.

Finlaggan · 18/08/2017 06:54

Just booked a villa in Portugal.

SmellTheGlove · 20/08/2017 16:26

I'm humming and ha-ing about booking next year's summer holiday. just got back from what turned out to be a reasonably priced trip to the south of france and all of us keen to do it again. But for some reason I can't bring myself to do it! I don't even know why! I think its a result of having a self employed DH and worrying about commiting money to a holiday in case we cant afford it. Although I see no reason why we wouldn't be able to afford it so it doesn't really make sense! And the I have a whole crazy "but what if we are ill/divorced/dead by then" mentality. So silly!
