Taking food abroad

So we are travelling to Tenerife in a couple of week on a low budget self catering holiday. I have packed the usual pasta, coffee, biscuits etc. Are there any restrictions on taking few packs of bacon in hold luggage and block of cheese? I was planning to put between ice blocks to keep cool.

I know it's just as cheap to buy there but wanted to save as much money as poss.

Tinned food weighs a lot, so be careful not to go over your luggage allowance. Excess luggage fees are much higher than the savings you will make by taking your own food.

Are you planning on only cooking English food when away?

You'd really be best just buying nearly everything there. Mercadona is one of the best places to go - cheap and a proper Spanish supermarket, where the locals shop - nearly everything is cheaper than the UK so no point taking stuff really - I also stock up on their chorizo to bring home. Google says there's 2 in the Las Americas/Los Cristianos area.

Baked beans might not be cheaper as it could be something not commonly eaten in Spain and Heinz ones will be £££s, but I never have them there unless there are some on a breakfast buffet, would never buy them, because I usually have tortilla, serrano ham, tomatoes, bread, cheese type breakfasts if self catering.

I do take a few teabags, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid if I have a spare 100 ml bottle - it can just go in with the toiletries. Saves buying big packs that we won't use all of.

Something for breakfast such as crumpets/muffins? We go to Cyprus later in the year and land late at night so won't be able to go buy breakfast bits.

I must admit I am a little Confused why anyone would want to take baked beans to Tenerife unless one of the members of the party is particularly fussy about food.
