London recommendations please

I want to travel by train to London with my kids (16,14,11) before the end of the summer holidays and I'd like some advice on what to do.

  1. I'd like to go to a museum which we'd all like. We have been to the Tate Modern, NaturalHistory Museum, British Museum and Science Museum a lot of times. As a family we prefer science to art.

  2. I'm thinking that an Escape Room would be fun. Are they enjoyable for all ages?

  3. last time we visited the Magnum pop up shop and they were impressed. Is there anything similar that we might not have heard of? We've had the liquid nitrogen ice cream at Camden.

We'll be staying in Central London (not decided where but our mainline train goes to/from Euston so north of the river)

The London transport museum in Covent Garden is supposed to be awesome. And very central to get to other attractions.

I can recommend the Imperial War Museum. Easy to reach from the Southbank. Other than that, check out Spitalfields market. Not sure about the escape room, but we like the "Alice in Wonderland" show in the Vaults near Waterloo a lot!

If you like Science, there's the Faraday Museum at the Royal Institution

The Greenwich Observatory we found interesting, too.

Plus at Greenwich there's a whole vast park in which to let off steam if the weather is dry.

How about the Museum of London www.museumoflondon.org.uk/museum-london?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIoMmJzKbX1QIV4r3tCh2ogAdzEAAYASAAEgL6QfD_BwE and/or the Museum of London Docklands www.museumoflondon.org.uk/museum-london-docklands?

Emirates Airline, the cable car over the Thames? tfl.gov.uk/modes/emirates-air-line/

Do you have Oyster cards? If not, it is really worth getting them - they make getting around so much easier. There are Visitor Oyster cards for adults and 11-15 year olds. tfl.gov.uk/travel-information/visiting-london/visitor-oyster-card Or you can get ordinary Oyster cards, but the ones for children and young people, called Zip cards, are photocards, so may not be worth the hassle.

How about Ripley's Believe it or Not in Piccadilly, that's meant to be good.

Wellcome Collection )although some of it might not be recommended for the 11 year old)
Hunterian Museum

I'm a Londoner with five year old twins so I may not be great at making recommendations but will give it a shot!

Greenwich including the Planetarium might be good. Planetarium, Observatory and Cutty Sark all cost but Maritime Museum is free.

Imperial War Museum also probably worth a go.

Cabinet War Rooms should appeal to older kids.

The Orbit at Olympic Park has a temporary slide down in - longest slide in the world or something like that! Could combine with trip around Westfield or a swim in the Olympic pool.

If you do the Emirates cable car there is a water sports centre at the Royal docks (northern side) where you can do taster paddle board and wake board sessions - need to book in advance.

Tall buildings/views? So London Eye, Shard, Sky Garden, the Monument or go up the dome at St Paul's.

There are loads of different ghost walks not just Jack the Ripper ones (which may be a bit too gruesome!)

The Globe if they are doing Shakespeare at school.

Rib boat/speedboat trip on the Thames.
