Got a year to save, will have 2000, is it enough for florida?

I'd say Florida is best without a doubt - much bigger, more parks etc. I'd guess £2000 would probably be OK, as long as you book fairly early as the price of flights does get very high if you leave it late.

Florida is lovely, but my two were 8 and 12 years old. Any younger and it would have been too much for them. It is very tiring as the parks are so huge and the sun very strong. Saw lots of younger ones really stressed out with it, temper tantrums all over the place etc.

Paris is much better for the younger ones... my friend just got back with her 5 year old DD and 3 year old DS and they really enjoyed it.

Florida

Iota · 29/03/2007 13:39

Florida is fab, but since your children are so young I'd go for Paris and do Florida when they are older

Ladymuck · 29/03/2007 13:42

Florida definitely.

The cost does add up though - we're paying almost £800 on park tickets alone (they need a child's ticket when they turn 3, so that may influence your timing). I think that you can do flights car and accom for £2,000, but you do need to factor in spending money when you get there. But deals do come up, and if you're not stuck with school holidays then you may be fine.

You could easily do Paris for £2k, but I think that you get more value for money from Florida (more parks, better weather, better customer service).

mateychops · 29/03/2007 13:44

No competition, it's got to be Florida.

PrincessPeaHead · 29/03/2007 13:46

bit of a hijack - we are going to do paris with 9, 6 and 3 y olds for a few days - is three days two nights enough or should we go for three nights four days (seems an awful lot for a theme park to me - I remember just going to disney world in florida for a day when I was 10 and that seemed like enough

princesscc · 29/03/2007 13:49

I've done both and whilst Paris is almost exactly the same as Florida, for the money you spend on 3 days in Paris, you may as well go to Florida. You can rely on the weather a bit more too!

princesscc · 29/03/2007 13:55

PPH - Without meaning to judge your age too much, I think the parks have more to offer now than when you were 10! (I'm no spring chicken, so I'm not being rude!) We did Paris in 3 days and we did do everything, although we went a Xmas so there were slightly less people there, so not a lot of queuing. The trick is to go to magic kingdom first and then when that shuts at 8pm going into studio park(name escapes me!) as that doesn't shut til 10pm. It may be slightly less stressful with 4 days tbh - have fun!

WeaselMum · 29/03/2007 13:58

Florida is a very different experience - more parks, better weather, etc etc. If it really is the holiday of a lifetime for all of you then go for it. However - at your kids' ages they really will appreciate Paris just as much. I would go to Paris and save Florida for when they can get more out of it.

Leslaki · 29/03/2007 18:19

We've taken our 2 to paris twice now - they were 18m and 33m the first time and 4.5 and 3 the second time. TBH Paris is more than enough for them at this age - they experience the magic and have agreat time but are tired enough at the end of the day. We found that the youngest was not wuite tall enough for some of the rides our ds could go on so she got a bit stressed about that from time to time so we've decided to hit Florida when they're a bit older when they appreciate it more, can go on the rides, don't need dinner at parade time and can get the most out of it. paris was just the right size and was enough for them.

Hulababy · 29/03/2007 18:23

DD was 2 and 4 when she went to Florida and had a wondeful time both occasions. Very long tiring days if you want them to be, but if you get flexible tickets to cover the whole holiday then you can take it easier. IF they let you!

DLP is fine. Have been a couple of times. No where near as big though and IME it doesn't have the same magic to it.

TBH you get a lot more for your money at Florida. And DLP we found far more expensive!

princesscc · 29/03/2007 18:29

Thing is with Paris, there's nowhere else to go. At least in Florida, you can have a break from the Micky Mouse thing!

LOL princesscc - if the children let you!!!

princesscc · 29/03/2007 22:45

Well yes, there is that! But I was only thinking of Busch Gardens and Sea World, so its not that far from the mouse!

Melaniec234 · 30/03/2007 10:35

We went with Virgin last time. Bought flights and hired villa and car from them.

We had a bad experience of Travel City Direct. Flight home was not good, and when things needed sorting with out villa they were very unhelpful.

However we do egenrally get our tickets through them for the parks as they usually have the better prices.

Ladymuck · 30/03/2007 16:03

We booked our holiday separately - flights and car from BA in one of their sales, villa direct from owners and theme park tickets from Attraction Tickets Direct.

LizP · 30/03/2007 16:29

PPH - both times we have done Paris we did 3 days / 2 nights - arriving at about lunchtime on the train. This was in the winter so less queues. Second time we stayed in the Castle Club at the disneyland hotel and that was excellent - VIP Fastpass tickets so even less queuing! We wanted to go again in the summer but can't get castle club rooms and dh nows says he'll only go if we do that. In Summer we would do an extra day as it would be more crowded and as it was warmer the kids would play more (rather than walking briskly to somewhere warm)

PrincessPeaHead · 31/03/2007 19:26

supremely helpful Liz - thank you very much!
