Swimming in France - swimming caps?

We're off to Paris in a few weeks, and the hotel (big chain hotel) has a pool. A friend tells me you have to have swimming caps in France. Is this correct? Even in a hotel pool?

Thanks in advance, Roisin

Swimwear rules vary across Europe TBH, some pools for instance insist upon swimming trunks as opposed to swimming shorts, you'll have to check with the hotel, have they got a website?

We didn't find this when we went swimming in a public pool - however, dh and ds weren't allowed to wear their baggy shorts, they both had to buy tight little speedos!! (not a pretty sight for dh really).

Never been asked for swim caps but baggy shorts are not allowed in most French pools.

This may be a stupid question but... why not?

We've never worn swimming caps in France (most insist in Italy though).

Last couple of years in France, DH has got away with swimming shorts - this years campsite insists on proper trunks.

We've never worn caps in France, but like others DH has had to wear proper trunks and not swimming shorts - maybe extra pubes block the drains???!!!!
