It will depend a lot on if you are planning to go to a shop and buy ingredients, or if you are planning to eat out every day?

Would you get a box of cereal or something for all your breakfasts, or want a whole range of items ?

when you eat out, would you have a main meal and a single drink or would you want 3 courses and 4 drinks each night ?

Would you buy a bottle of wine and sit on your terrace, or would be be out clubbing / seeking cocktails ?

During the day, will you be to and fro to a beach bar buying cokes and beers or would you take frozen bottles of water you've got from the supermarket ?

As all this will affect what you spend

Thanks for replying,We plan to take teabags and buy fruit / eggs and make breakfast in room and buy bottles of water. Not be out clubbing and seeking cocktails every night. Meals simply main courses and possibly 1/2 drinks most nights but likely buy a bottle for room. May plan 2/3 trips. Thank you

go where the English aren't lol.find the places the locals eat.so much cheaper.englis speaking and English menus are hoiked up hugely.plus nowhere near as delicious as when you find those little gems that serve fresh local foods cooked by people who know there stuff
take what you can.are you flying.
we took bag of stuff when we drove.
sachets.like stiry through bolegnase and casserole powders.
try shopping when the markets are on.and you can do some great bartering.
remember Europe etc aren't as open all hours as we are with our supermarkets so might be worth checking on google for local to your food shops.

We SC for breakfast and lunch and then eat out each night. Buy local brands rather than British ones, to save money.
I budget around E100 per day for 4 of us (teenage kids, so adults really), to include food, drinks and a couple of cheap day trips.
Meals are normally big, so don't feel embarrassed to share or to ask to take leftovers home for lunch! House wine is normally very cheap and decent.

We budget €100 a day in Greece for two adults and a nine year old. This is for all expenditure including trips/evening drinks. It usually balances out across the holiday. We self cater breakfast, have some lunches out and some in but only a really light meal like a salad and some crisps and then a meal out every evening.

Yes we do. We take coffee, breakfast biscuits and squash in those little bottles that just need a drop in water. I also take toilet roll.

OnyK · 02/08/2017 12:03

Yes us too, as cereal, tea etc can be twice the price in Greece.
Currently on holiday in Greece and the 4 of us are eating out for €40-50 per night inc drinks.

Great - thank you for advice and information much appreciated. Also not sure whether to take euros or one of the prepaid cards or a good credit card,😶 would normally leave this up to husband but as it is just myself and daughter this time I'm wanting to be better safe than sorry. Thanks again z

We take some cash but mostly use a fee free credit card. The only time we weren't able to use a card everywhere was when Greece had the banking crisis and it was cash only. I'm not sure who offers the fee free credit cards these days as mine is no longer available but Money Saving Expert can help with that.

QuiteLikely5 · 03/08/2017 21:54

We took tea/coffee. You will need washing up liquid too.

£150 is fine for the two of you though.

We got bread, butter, cheese for toasties and some eggs. The eggs are delicious out there

OnyK · 04/08/2017 08:05

I'd take cash. A lot of tavernas, small shops and bars still don't take card payments.

Monica53 · 07/08/2017 23:26

Hi Thank you - yep reckon on taking euros - checking out Martin Lewis website later this week for any special deals. So looking forward to chilling put for a week xx
