I'
m not quite sure what to do.We are going to Rhodes at the end of May & I am in the process of sorting out insurance. However, the quote I want to accept says that you cannot accept if you are undergoing or waiting the result of medical investigations.

I had to go to the Drs on Friday, because I've had stomach pains for over 2 weeks. The Dr was unsure of the cause but has asked me to send off a urine sample,to check for an infection. If that comes back clear,I will have to have a pelvic examination to see if it is anything else.

I don't know what to do about the insurance.Do I take out the policy & let them know if it turns out to be more than a UTI? Do I just not say anything & hope for the best?
I'm just confused & worried now.Can anyone help?
Thanks

I wouldn't chance it, as in the event of a claim insurers can be very pedantic about whether you have adhered to their small print or not. I would wait until you have established if it's a UTI - and if so, go with the quote, and if not, possible rethink, and go with someone like Post Office who can factor these things in for a couple of quid extra.

If you've already booked the holiday, and whatever this is might subsequently cause you to have to cancel, you wouldn't be covered if you didn't tell them (and they would find out because they would check with your GP)

I think I would wait until you have the test results - if it's just a UTI then you will not be undergoing tests/waiting for results so nothing to declare - if it's not a UTI then you will have something more positive to tell them. (Mind you if it's diagnosed as a UTI and you get anti-b's and then later on it turns out to be more complicated, it would be classed as a pre-existing condition...)

They may turn you down flat but there are companies who do insure people with ongoing probs (but will cost more, obv)

Fingers crossed it's something simple and fixable, mirage

Thanks for the fast responses.I suppose I'm panicking a bit, because there are 5 of us going & we have already paid half the cost.I'm worried that if I don't sort the insurance out now & something happens that means we can't go,we'll lose about £600.I think I'll hang fire & wait until the results are back-possibly a week or so,& just pray that everything turns out alright.

Have a look for other companies who will insure you for pre-existing conditions. The premium is likely to be higher but you should be able to get cover somewhere.

I 'came clean' to the Post Office when renewing our annual policy. DS2 has gastric reflux. The renewal was to cost £80 but when they heard about Ds they wanted to charge £30 extra!

The worst thing that could happen would be he would get a sore stomach.

As I was renewing my car insurance, I got the AA to quote for travel insurance. They were quite happy abpout DS's stomach and the cost was £74.
