Hi all - we're Eurocamping this year and will be mostly based at the poolside with 3 dc 13, 12 and 7. Planning to stop at intermarche en route for supplies, but what is your holiday survival kit? All advice welcome as I want to be the most organised mum at the resort. TIA

Take a multi-plug with you, then you don't need to fight over limited sockets/travel adapters for device chargers (I say this having actually no idea if they even have plug sockets at campsites!)

We have a phone charger that can charge several items at once, about 6 I think.

2014newme · 18/07/2017 09:10

Lots of tea towels.
We're doing a week eurocamp cheap and cheerful as an extra break plan to bbq or eat out mostly I hate shopping and washing up on holiday.
Luxury it ain't!

wizzywig · 18/07/2017 09:13

Dettol wipes.

mammmamia · 18/07/2017 09:19

I always take scissors and sellotape. Always comes in handy.
I also take a sharpie pen. Useful to name stuff when every kid at the pool has the same inflatable or the same hat from UK high street.
I also take my own pop up laundry basket. Hate not having anywhere to put dirty clothes. I read that tip on here!

Wine, sun cream, playing cards/ Uno for outside the tent in the evening, did I say wine...

CleanHankie · 18/07/2017 09:30

Pegs, you fit more on your clothes airer then
Decent sharp bread knife (after squashing french bread trying to cut it with blunt knives)
Hanging shelves for clothes as never enough space for folded stuff but oddles of wardrobes
T towels
Bath/old mat to use on floor of shower
Folding crate to transport stuff over in then has a use as a shoe box by the door
Large bag for Life /Ikea bag to lugg all swim gear about in

Yip 100% on the 4/6 gang plug ! Not having to take turns to charge phone or dry straighten hair - it will save your life ! (Also a selection of Tupperware containers or freezer bags, just always come in handy - for storing snacks or leftovers!) ice cube bags (for G&T) good first aid kit, antihistamine, panadol, steri strips, instant ice packs(great for cooling emergency wine , heat stroke or hangovers) and hydralite (hangovers purely) happy hols OP ! Oh and a couple of good knives ... they are always blunt as butter knives !

TinklyLittleLaugh · 18/07/2017 09:45

Your kids are a bit older but when mine were smaller I took their towelling dressing gowns with us. Very useful for a quick wrap up when coming out of a slightly chilly pool or sea, or when nipping to the shower block.

chewbaccathehooky · 18/07/2017 09:55

You're all fab. Not sure about the knife in hold luggage, but might purchase en route. We're not in a tent, but one of those cabins. All in desperate need of a holiday as it's been a tough year so want it to be as stress free as possible Easter Smile

A well wrapped knife in cardboard and then in a towel will be fine in checked baggage ! Have fun x

habibihabibi · 19/07/2017 05:40

Make the children pack only belongings that fit in a rucksack
3 outfits , flipflops, pjs , swimwear and a warm top for evenings. Don't take jeans or heavy trousers.
Take one sponge bag for the whole family, fill it at the supermarket with a toothpaste ,shampoo etc , sunscreen ,body wash and unisex deodorant , label toothbrushes with sharpie.
I use any extra space to take a stove top coffee maker .

citykat · 20/07/2017 16:34

Bathmat. Pegs. Your own reusable shopping bag. Sharp knife. Dettol wipes. I take those hang over the loo rim flush things. Don't use at home but bit of air freshener and cleaning in the loo instead of me cleaning can only be a good thing.

mammmamia · 20/07/2017 22:47

Tea towels, you never get enough at eurocamp, also take extra hand towels. I also take hand wash! Blush

mammmamia · 20/07/2017 22:48

Yy to bath mat.
Basically just take your whole house Grin

OuchLegoHurts · 20/07/2017 22:50

I always take ear plugs on holiday in case we're in a noisy area...

bingohandjob · 21/07/2017 17:03

Turkish towels - basic ones on eBay, the more you buy the cheaper they are. Light, can double as scarf/wrap/cover up etc but as pool or shower towel dry much quicker than normal towels and don't stink or feel weird like travel towels. Get biggest size you can.

Buy toiletries there, don't load your bag.

We take cards/travel games/pub quiz book too for tipsy evenings!

bananafanana1 · 24/07/2017 18:13

Take a toastie maker - works great on hols for kids.

FusionChefGeoff · 01/08/2017 13:59

Love this thread! Just added 18 things to my list.

I'll add:

Leave in conditioner spray in post swimming if can't be arsed to wash hair every day
A decent sized mug
Picnic rug for beach

fiorentina · 02/08/2017 15:16

We are going for the first time but tips I've had include taking large mugs as the ones there are tiny. A sharp kitchen knife, and I've packed some washing powder, some food basics to save buying them there. I'm sure you can buy everything you need at the hypermarche, I can't wait to have a wander round there!
