GP not offering travel vaccinations

Hi ;

We're travelling to Bali in September so tried to book travel jabs with our GP, just basic ones. GP said they no longer offer travel vaccines. I've looked online and we will have to spend £3-400 on getting vaccinated. My issue is that I have 2 friends who live less than 10 minutes away, in the same borough but with different GP's whose travel vaccines are all free at their GP's. It's a really bad postcode lottery. Is there anything I can do about this or do I need to cough up?

couch my issue is with the postcode lottery stance not having to pay for them. But yes, basically. We have saved for 3 years for this and I don't have hundreds of pounds to spare, I'm afraid. Unless you want to lend it to me?

My GP/Nurse no longer deal with travel vaccinations, always have in the past . We have paid £15 each for a (joint)consultation at our local travel clinic/GP 2 miles away. If we had needed any vaccinations we would have had to pay for all of them. Had we been registered at this travel clinic/GP we would not have had to pay for the consultation ie £15 each neither would we have to pay for certain vaccinations. Certain others like Japanese Encephalitis would have been payable. This is a postal code lottery in a sense and I feel is unfair. Yes holidays are our choice, but being sensible and having necessary jabs avoid us being ill and avoid us bringing unwanted diseases back to the UK, which would further drain the NHS resources. I see it as unfair that some have to pay and others are fleeced!

It depends on the vaccine I think.

I had some from my GP but needed tick bourne encephalitis and I had to get that one from Boots privately.

Zombie thread.

Travel vaccinations are a nightmare to organise, I'm not surprised that GP surgeries are dropping out of providing them. I really can't weep over this as a loss to the NHS core service, nor do I think the cost-benefit of stopping you bringing back a tropical disease is favourable enough for the nhs to cover your holiday needs. I'm also glad that GPs are still able to make some local priority decisions themselves (aka 'postcode lottery').

OP superdrug do each of these vaccinations for £30
