Looking for somewhere with really good food...will have kids with us...early teen and 10. Any recommendations? No touristy traps...just good honest food!

I'm having trouble getting decent gluten free food - had the most disgusting spaghetti round from the colosseum last night which I'm sure was done in tinned soup. Rest of family said their non gf stuff was vile too. Haven't really found anything amazing yet - and the serving staff are all rude and unhelpful. Loving it despite all that though!

I've just remembered to cone back and look at responses..wow...thanks everyone...!!! Will start to go through the list. We are staying not far from Pantheon. Kids are very adventurous eaters thankfully..and can't wait for the Italian experience!!!

We found round the Colosseum was the absolute worst for finding places to eat. I think they all knew they didn't have to try hard as there were soooo many people around.

One of the restaurants I mentioned, I think it was Ditirambo, had comprehensive allergy info on the menu so might be worth trying.

We dined in Trastevere every night. I would recommend Dar Poeta in Vicolo del Bologna, 45 for amasing pizza!!

This thread is great! We're going to Rome on our honeymoon is September. Staying in the Ponte Sisto hotel, I'm making a list of all the suggestions here

I'm finding restaurant staff amazingly rude/unhelpful. In fact, most people are unfriendly - doesn't matter really as the place is so lovely - but I'm a bit surprised. I guess they don't have to try, it's not as if the tourists are going to stop coming . . .

Went to one place today as had heard amazing things - asked what was veggie, they just said 'nothing' and walked away!

If anyone is coming soon, be prepared for the heat - it was 39 degrees today 😢

I managed to get sunburnt on my shoulders last week and it was only 35 then.

Can't say we ever found the staff unhelpful, quite the opposite really. I can recommend an amazing cocktail bar in monti called the Dow jones if anyones looking for a drink.

L'Archetto! A bit off the beaten track, but lovely. Lots of spaghetti!

We stayed near the Pantheon too, and I also have adventurous eaters. The best meal we had was at this place. Have a great time!

Have a look at Eater Rome. Two places we liked were Antico Arco (up market Italian I guess) and Nonna Betta (in the Jewish quarter - v reasonable )
