I am going to London for the whole day - just me and DP for my birthday.

Tell me about your perfect metropolis day!

OMG NO CHILDREN

it's perfect already

Greenwich is lovely (esp if sunny) - market, park, Observatory . Plus you get to ride on the DLR (well, I love it - like a toy train). Or you could do shopping (Piccadilly, Covent Garden), museums (South Ken), South Bank ...

the Wolsley for breakfast (and lunch and dinner but that's just me). An open top bus tour. Walk along the river to the Tate and over the bouncy bridge. Drinks in Covent Garden and/or a theatre. lovely!

yum - keep them coming!

Well, we used to live in London and my favourite days always started with breakfast at a local coffee shop reading the paper, followed by a stroll on Hampstead Heath, maybe a trip to the Tate in the afternoon, followed by dinner looking out over the Thames.

Recently visited London with 2 year old DS and the best day (in good weather) had to be our trip to zoo - pricey, but worth it as DS LOVED every minute.

Oooh, what about breakfast at Simpsons (the Strand)? You wouldn't want to do anything too energetic afterwards tho.

Swizzler · 21/03/2007 20:13

And if you can book a table at the restaurant at the Tate (top floor) for lunch the views are fantastic (the food's pretty good too)

TeeCee · 21/03/2007 20:13

What day of the week are you coming on?

Swizzler · 21/03/2007 20:15

Go to Camden Town. Lunch at Convent Garden.

WideWebWitch · 23/03/2007 17:14

We had ours: woke up in 5star hotel suite, for which we'd only paid £117 on Laterooms , strolled to Borough Market and along to Tate Modern, walked a lot, had Champagne at lunchtime in dark sexy wine bar, went back to hotel for an afternoon of sex/sleep and then got up and went to see a film in the evening, followed by supper in Brick Lane.

Where are you staying?

WideWebWitch · 23/03/2007 17:18

And another time we stayed in a great hotel and spent ages wandering around the National Portrait Gallery, saw an exhibition. The British Museum Great Hall and reading room are wonderful too imo.

DimpledThighs · 23/03/2007 17:30

going first thing and back late late night so not staying over - but hey honsy - am not complaining!
