BA are blaming us! Cancelled Saturday 27.6 flights

kids were in tears as we were kicked off the plane on Saturday.
Our kids were in tears when BA sent our luggage Inc. cuddly toys to greece without us.
BA blamed us throughout - "We should have lied on the missing baggage form"... Who knew? Greece to LHR, would have guaranteed baggage delivery to home...
And "most people made it to greece" so they've booked us a return to LHR on 2.9.17, instead of refunding the return leg
Anyone want to join in a joint legal suit for compensation? My husband has been phoned at midnight and we've been pacing the floor at 4am with kids over this

We applied for compensation on Sunday, and received email confirmation on Thursday that a cheque was being issued. Haven't received it yet, but so far they have handled this particular part efficiently.

Which they needed to - to try and get back a little credibility.

Make your compensation claim through Resolver or similar.

Buy anything you need from your lost baggage and keep receipts. Shitty way to use your holiday money and time, but at least you will be reimbursed.

BA have really got to perform to overcome the negative publicity.

Someone upthread said that their husband was stuck in NY and his luggage was sent to Boston so it's not just the OP who has had luggage sent on a flight without them

Dhs luggage has flown all over the world without him due to various BA errors. It's not their policy to fly bags without corresponding passengers but it is disingenuous to claim they never do it. If you worked for them for 20 years it was obviously not in the department that locates missing bags and returns them (eventually). Any frequent flyer will have experience missing bags.

BA are utter twats!!!!!

Good luck getting anything out of them, I had a 2 month argument with them last year when I had to be given medication on the aircraft and from gp when I got home.

They denied having filled any paperwork in, then lied about other things, I hate them
I only travel BA because I have to.
IMO easyJet are far superior

@sleepstrategy I'm crew and I know that if a passenger has checked in with load baggage, and the passenger does not make their flight for whatever reason, then the bags are offloaded from the hold and BA will delay the flight until the bags are removed.
What happens with the bags after that, I don't know.

My dh (whose bags were flown to Boston) has mumbled something about claiming for the broken suitcase. He was grateful to get it back really as it had all his work clothes in.

We were supposed to be going away for the bank holiday weekend so it bolloxed that up too but we travel a lot and lived abroad for years and cancelled flights and lost bags are just one of those things that happen.

But it's not that the passenger didn't show up the flight was cancelled. The rules about off loading if passenger doesn't fly are to stop people checking in a bomb and then just not getting on the flight. This situation wasn't predictable so that risk just doesn't exist. That's why if your baggage doesn't make a flight you are it it will just get flown over on the next available flight.

I am absolutely not BA's greatest supporter Savoy, but when our suitcase was damaged on our return from the States last year (it was the first time we'd used it), they replaced it with new within two weeks. Definitely worth a claim.

@helpfulperson the OP says that they were "kicked off the flight" if that's the case, then the bags would be offloaded aswell.

@qtipsrsweet - on rereading what the OP actually says is 'kicked of the plane' I read that as because the flight was cancelled but can see that from the way it is written it could have been just them in which case, yes there luggage should have been offloaded. If it was just them it would be interesting to know why.

The title reads plane cancelled.

I'm assuming they boarded and then had to get off when the it systems went down.

It is all over the media that the BA meltdown caused all sorts of problems with luggage and passengers. The detail of precisely what happened to the OP is probably not important. Many people had bags misdirected. This was not an isolated passenger missing or being bumped off a flight, every BA flight was disrupted. I'm not sure that normal BA procedures are in a ny way relevant.

That's the trouble - BA assumed we'd make it to greece, despite our lost baggage claim stating we wanted the bags returned to our UK address.
Upthread dropzoneone says this is standard airline practice, but it was at least £3500 for flights with Aegean that day, (start of half term week) another family sat near us were looking into it.
