We've just had a week at a really nice holiday cottage on a farm near Lynton with our (just) 1 year old DS. If you like countryside rather than resorts, and your children are the type who appreciate having animals around rather than amusements it's great, as they have Shire horses and run horsedrawn tours up on to Exmoor. The cottage itself was really well equiped for children with stairgates, a cot, playpen, changing mat, plenty of toys and children's videos/books, a swing in the garden, etc. The main downstairs room is also huge, so there's plenty of room for children to be energetic even indoors.

Just wanted to report back on Gara Rock in Devon, we had a wonderful child-friendly break, beautiful position, very secluded over-looking the sea. Great food, accomodation adequate, if a bit basic, but wonderful place and highly recommended! Hope that helps someone
