Nice, France for Easter - any ideas of what to do while we're there?

We're going for 4 nights, without the kids.

you mean you are not taking your kids? how could you - yeah right, how jealous am i??? i think we all deserve a time to ourselves and hope you havea great time. You dont say where you are going? or do you, but i went to paris just passing through actually so was only there 4 hours, long enough to have spat with DH about whether we should visit the eye full tower. But there seems soo much to do there, if not, i could think of plenty to do if i were four nights away from the kids, oh yes , just be careful lol.

Will you have a car?

There is a very funny zoo/wildlife park in the middle of nowhere a very easy 20-30 mins drive outside Nice. My DCs adored it.

It is quite sort of low key and amateur and they seem to have a fairly relaxed approach to health and safety issues and you can feed lots of the animals with biscuits.

They were just saying the other day how much they would like to go back to it.

LOL... I just misread this thread title as 'nice France' (in the same category as 'nice ham' and 'nice coffee', etc.).

Rent a car, go shopping in Cannes, go see a perfume factory at Grasse, visit Mougins, Eze, & Beaulieu.

we weren't going to bother with hiring a car. It seems very expensive to hire in Nice, and I didn't really want the hassle. We're staying bang in the center, and without the kids, I wanted to make the most of being able to jsut hop on trains and not worry about having to have a designated driver who can't drink, etc. Should I consider it though?

Oh I know I'm mean! The oldest two are going up to Norfolk for a week though, to stay with grandparents, and they are really looking forward to it. I don't think dd will be too miffed when she finds out we're going on hol without her! The dts are used to going to their grandparents for a few days at a time anyway.

Go to Monte Carlo, its a great place. Lots of fab restaurants and bars and not really set up for kids, which in your case is a bonus !
Public transport seems really good over there, I wouldn't bother hiring a car.
