Neilson Beach Club - family holiday - what to expect?

Hi - we are booked for a week's family holiday during the school hols at a Neilson Beach Club

I've never been on a package/activity rope holiday before so have a few questions for those who have (please no horror stories as the holiday is already booked and paid for and was bloody expensive!)

My DC are 14 and 12 and have never been on a holiday with any kind of clubs or activities, we have always just gone self catering before

Regarding the activities, do you just pick and choose on day to day basis depending how energetic/lazy you are feeling or will we be expected to book into activities for the whole week when we arrive?

Will the DC be expected to join in with all the other kids doing a schedule of activities every day or is it normal for them to join in or not depending what they fancy?

Type not rope!

You choose your activities on the first day if they're ones with tuition. Things like kayaks and SUPs can be taken out independently (there will be safety boats looking out for anyone struggling). Mountain bikes can also be taken out independently.

I took DS2 to Club Adakoy in Turkey when he was 14. He still says it's his most favourite holiday ever. We did go on a week when most schools were back though, so there were only 2 of them in the teenage kids' club, with 3 staff members. They had an absolute blast!

It was also one of my favourite holidays. I had been anxious about not being there with the rest of our family, but need not have been. The atmosphere was really relaxed and friendly. DS learnt to sail, waterski, wakeboard, windsurf etc. He had tennis lessons every day and they had a tournament at the end of the week where he ended up in the doubles final with three people aged from 40-60. As we went for dinner, various older couples would greet him like an old friend .

We went on the most fabulous bike ride together one evening, to a little hidden restaurant on the other side of the island.

We'd only ever skied with Neilson before and had never been on a beach AI (not really our style), so I was apprehensive. I needn't have been- it was ace!

We're headed off next week and can't wait (ds6 and ds 12). We've been a lot before and the kids always have a blast. At 12 ds spends most of the time with the other kids-even some dinner times! That club is more structured in terms of activity than the one for 14 years which is more free form led by the teens preferences. They will have a fantastic time. Also if they decide that the clubs are not their bag then they can drop in and out as they want.
In terms of you there are some activities that will get booked up at the welcome meeting but there will be some you can wait to sign up for. I am sure you will have a brilliant time-we always do!

What country are you going to?

Greece-one of the islands. Pm me if you want to and think you might be going to the same one. We've actually been to the same resort before-it's ace!

Key for the kids is to go into club on the first day - when lots of people know no one. They will make friends fast - and then choose when to come and go as the week goes on. Harder to join in later. We have done eight Neilson holidays - love them.

My children still remember Sivota as their favourite holidays. It as done very well and nobody ever complained of boredom. Evening activities could be better but daytimes were excellent.

My kids love neilsons.
You pre book the kids clubs before you go then they just join in as they want to when there.
For adults you sign up first morning.
It's a bit butlins but we liked it although now mine are older it's cheaper for us to go long haul.
