We've booked a fairly small hotel for a week in July. No kids club and no evening entertainment. We can go out for a walk but for just sitting, having a chat and a drink, what recommendations do you have? I've been looking at travel games like connect 4. Have got a couple of travel activity packs with colouring stuff too. We are not taking iPads!

We've got a pack of cards too.

How old are the children? We usually play cards every night when on holiday. Uno is always good fun and easy for even small children. If you are doing day trips etc than writing a holiday diary, sticking in tickets etc can be fun. If there is outside space a frisbee is fun for all. We once spent a hilarious hour on a cherry stone spitting competition, but that may not be for everyone (although my MIL was surprisingly proficient).

Learn to play a few card games.

Spite and malice is a good one. Ok for ages 7 up.

Ours also like go fish.

How old are they? Ours are 7 and 10 and we play:

Card games (Pontoon, Newmarket, Old Maid)
Uno
Sleeping Queens
Hangman
Squares
Battleships
Chess
Travel Cluedo
Travel Scrabble
Qwirkle
Dobble
Top Trumps

Ah ages that would be helpful. 9 and 10. Thanks. Will look at those suggestions.
