How would you fill a day and evening in Nice with 3 under 5s?!

Just that really. Looking for child-friendly places to eat and play, all centrally located.

Nice is one of my favourite places and your kids will have a great time! There are many many cafe's & places to eat, lots of which will do pretty standard kids food options. The old town is the prettiest area to sit and have a meal and wander around the backstreets.

The beach at Nice slopes very sharply and steeply into the sea and personally when my daughter was smaller I thought it was downright dangerous even when carrying her! If you have time, take a very short train ride to Villefranche which is beautiful and has a much small kid friendlier (if still stony) beach.

As part of the overall urban development, they've created a water jet fountain square in Place Massena which is great fun for kids and there's lots of benches to sit and watch!

Thank you! Any particular places to eat that stood out to you?

Not that I can remember - I'm more of a 'that great place in the square with the fountain' kind of person. Sorry!

Grrr - not that I can remember the name of was what I meant to write!

The fountains near Place Massena are fantastic. Take a swimsuit for the kids and a towel and let them loose. My two could spend an entire afternoon there.

There is a fantastic playground a few minutes walk from the fountains. I think it's called Promenade du Paillon. Google it. The play structures there are so good and it's very safe. Your kids are young so you will have to keep an eye on them, but mine are older and speak basic French, so I can relax.

Go up Collins du Chateau by the Petit Train de Nice (stop is on the Promenade) They have a 15-minute stop at the top of the hill for photos etc. The view of Nice from up there is one not to be missed.

Agree about Villefranche. Much nicer beach with soft sand and a short train ride away.

Hope that helps. If I remember anything else, I'll post again. Enjoy! Nice is fantastic.

Regarding places to eat, most restaurants in Nice are good with children. We always go to Place Rossetti as there are 2-3 restaurants round the square that do quick and delicious food and there is an ice cream parlour called Fenocchio with hundreds of flavours, all good! We tend to sit there for ages watching the children play in the centre of the square.

For lunch, maybe try the food market at Cours Saleya. If nothing else, the macaroons they sell there are to die for yummm
