Can I have a hand hold re flying alone for the first time..?

I fly alone for the first time on Saturday. Have flown plenty of times before with Oh, friends.. however I am quite a nervous flyer - have got past the non stop crying throughout the flight though! However if there is a bit of turbulence I tend to immediately lean on OH or hold his hand :(
I'm not sure I want to go on this trip but it's all arranged and if I don't go I'll have wasted the £100 on my tickets.... plus my friend is expecting me and I feel it's something I really need to do. Just to prove to myself I can fly by myself!

My other rather big worry is questions at immigration - I'm a grown woman but, has anyone ever been questioned at the border regarding their travel if they are alone? I went to Berlin a few weeks ago (with partner) and I got asked why I was there, and for how long id be staying.. I've never been asked a question at passport control before. However he was asking every passenger. I'm just so anxious I'll stumble on what I'm saying and they'll get suspicious of me or something- and then I'll end up detained! :-/ it's crazy how my thoughts spiral....

I'm only going to Paris, probably an hours flight, my friend has just moved there and I'm staying with her for a couple of nights.

Some positive words for me please...? :)

They'll probably ask if you've packed your bags yourself etc. (Make sure you truly can answer 'yes' to that question.) It's like that now. What's the worst realistic outcome that could possibly happen? (Note: realistic!)

In any case I fret about it too although no upcoming trips on the horizon. The worst that could happen, according to me, apart from more dramatic outcomes like falling down, would be to lose the passport and not being able to return to my home country but be confined to live in that other country for the rest of my life, as a paperless refugee... without identity. What nightmare.

I'm a very nervous flyer but I actually find flying on my own a lot easier. I just sort of get on with it on my own - no fretting about the kids etc. And you can absorb yourself in a trashy magazine/listen to music etc without any demands so it's easier to switch off from the stressiness, IYSWIM. Passport control - they may ask questions but just be honest and you'll be fine.

I fly on my own quite a lot and I've never been asked the purpose of my journey but if I was I'd just truthfully answer that it was a work trip, a holiday, or in your case, to visit a friend.

I also quite like flying alone but I'm always comfortable in my own company. I'll have a mooch round the airport shops or sometimes book into the lounge for a couple of hours.

You'll be fine!

I agree with Hassled my nerves were actually better flying alone because I just had to focus on myself!
Had a lovely 4 hour flight with headphones in and a book... I was a bit nervy on takeoff but a few deep breaths and focused on my magazine, I was surprised at how quickly it was over.
Good luck! Flowers

Ok...I'm a manic flyer...but I don't let it stop me...I flew alone recently....listening to music really helped me and this was the first time I ever did that. Listened to the same song over and over again...strangely calming. I kind of know the routine by now....the noises, the beeps that the hostesses use to signal to each other....captains instructions. Break the flight down...taxi...takeoff....ascent snack time...selling lotto tickets...tidy up...descent, land...fun time. Oh and make friends with the person beside you...tell them you are nervous..they might keep yuh chatting and you will be up and down before you know it...and enjoy x
