San Francisco tips and must dos!

Myself and my partner are planning to spend 3 nights in San Francisco later this Summer.
Is 3 nights enough? And are there any 'must dos' or tips that anyone could pass on please?
Keen to make sure we don't miss anything!

We were there on the 4th of July and went to the waterfront to see the fireworks. It was basically just watching fog change colour.
