Air BnB - price increase 3 months after booking?!

I booked an apartment in Manly, NSW for 5 nights in December three months ago. This morning I have received an email from the host saying she made a mistake with the pricing and needs to charge me an extra £358 (a third more of the price!). I'm a first time user which she obviously knows and is now taking the piss. What can I do? What if I decline the increase but we arrive and have no where to stay??

I can't help op but this might bump it for you

Contact Air BnB and ask advice from them.

You had a booking contract with the host, for the accommodation at the advertised price, which she accepted when she took your booking, so it should not be possible for her to increase the price now.

I don't think they are allowed to do this. Contract air bnb.

Just turn her down and find somewhere else. You have months and months to find alternative accommodation.

Yes contact Airbnb.

she is trying it on. she has a contract with you but enforcing that contract is always going to be tricky because its in a different country.

have a look at the general terms and conditions on the airbnb website then make contact with them.

having said that, I now would have no trust at all in this woman, ask for a refund and book elsewhere. she could really mess you about and that wouldn't make for a relaxing holiday.

This sounds very odd to me. Has she contacted you and asked her to pay directly, and not through the site? If so, probably a scam. I'd contact Airbnb.

Speak to Airbnb

Definitely trying it on, as above you have a contract with her, to which she has already agreed the price.

I would contact AirBnB, but tbh, after this I wouldn't trust her to be a good host & would look for something else

Thank you all. She cancelled and I have received an email rom airbnb confirming the full amount will go back onto my card. I have found somewhere else thank goodness. Everywhere in that area is getting really booked up as it's peak season. I didn't realise that as a host she gets fined for cancelling plus cannot be a 'superhost' for a a year and gets an automated review saying she cancelled so I feel a bit better! 😁
