Travelodge or B&B?

Which is more ideal for a holiday with a 3 month old?

Me and my mum go on holiday every year, Nothing major, Just a few days/week away to the seaside, It's like our Bonding thing. This year, I will have a baby and will be taking him with us, But I wasn't sure if booking a Travelodge or a B&B would be better. Both are roughly the same price (Though the travelodge is SLIGHTLY more expensive), Both have great and then not so great points to consider...

Travelodge - Pros- Bigger rooms/Bathrooms, Somewhere to store the
pram, Able to bring in outside food, Provides somewhere
for the baby to sleep, Lifts, Late check-out
Cons - Slightly further away from everything, Including the train station, Extra travel needed to get there, slightly more expensive, No food included in over all price.

B&B - Pros - Breakfast included, Most have Mini Fridges (Ideal for
milk), Nicer/More homely, Right on the beach front and only
afew minutes from the train station.
Cons - Small rooms (Hardly any space), Unlikly to have lifts for
suitcases/Pram, No outside food, Doors locked at certain times,
Early check-out and most importantly nowhere for the baby to
sleep.

Opinions? :)

I'd personally go for a B&B - even though the rooms are smaller it's cheaper, usually a much more homely and relaxed experience.
Have you tried Air BnB? I always use them and you can get some lovely places to stay for a lot less than travellodge etc x

Yeah, I am leaning more towards B&B but obviously with traveling via train for quite afew hours to get there, I don't want to be lugging a basket or somewhere for the baby to sleep, and the B&B's ive looked into do allow small children but nowhere for them to sleep unless in a bed.

I never considered an Air b&b to be completely honest, I'll have a look now.

Thank you for the reply :)

OP, have you also checked Premier Inns in case there's one in a more convenient location than the Travelodge. Their prices are usually pretty reasonable.

I am anti bed and breakfast as I tend to find them outdated and a bit pokey (massive generalisation). I also don't like the fact that some owners seem to monitor your every movement. I remember once being told off by a B and B owner for not having the breakfast. I couldn't believe that. The smell had put me off. You never get that kind of micro management in premier inn which is why I like the anonymity.

I'd go with travelodge. Well set up for babies, will have decent travel cots, rooms are well soundproofed (you don't want to be sat at breakfast getting glared at if your baby has been screaming during the night). Will have a kettle to make up feeds if not BF. Most have a bar so you can get drinks and go back to the room. Can order in takeaway etc. In my mind there's no positive points to the B&B!

I would always book a hotel over a B and B and I would always book a premier inn over any other hotel

Travelodge or similar every time. I've only stayed in a couple of B&Bs and don't like the feel of it at all. Staying in someone else's home doesn't allow me to relax, and I find the breakfast etc awkward and all too personal.

hollyisalovelyname · 01/05/2017 09:06

Premier Inn or Travelodge over a B&B for me always as you know what you are getting.
The B&B could be brilliant or awful.

Premier inn or travelodge every time for me too. Great family rooms with cot set up for you and consistency, no nasty surprises. And yes to the anonymity of baby has trouble sleeping. A premier inn even popped my steriliser in their microwave for me one time (although that would probably be at managers discretion). Having to carry a travel cot is a pain in the ass, that would be the deal breaker all else aside.

I hate B and B. I'm like Alex Polizzi. Usually they make my flesh crawl unless they are immaculate and modern. I was forced to stay in one the other night. It had curtains with fur tails hanging off them and weird creepy straw figures the size of toddlers.

So I always go for Travel Lodge, Premier Inns. You know what your getting.

A vote for Premier inn or Travel Lodge here.
I have only stayed in a BB once and that was enough.
A toddler was having a tantrum practically all night long
so I hardly slept a wink. I went straight home the next day
bypassing the breakfast and vowing never again
At least in Premier Inn/Travel lodge the walls are a bit thicker.

Travel Lodge, Premier Inn or Holiday Inn Express definitely over B&B. Much more relaxed, usually modern and cleaner and you definitely know what you're getting. Plus, you'll have space in the room to sterilise/make bottles if you need to and the use of a cot.

Can you say which area you're going to? Then we might be able to make suggestions.

TriciaH87 · 05/05/2017 22:50

Depends on how old baby is. With my youngest his pushchair turnt into a csrrycot so when we were away when he was 3months òld he slept in that.

YoniFucker · 05/05/2017 22:54

Neither. Look on Airbnb or similar for self catering / apartments.

BlessYourCottonSocks · 05/05/2017 22:57

Premier Inn. The staff are always fabulous.
