Boil water in kettle and prepare as normal? I used tap water in similar holiday situations. Think boiling bottled water not always recommended as they can be higher in sodium etc and boiling can concentrate this. Some mineral waters have a lower mineral content though, often have a baby picture on to show this. Does similac come readymade? We used hipp and I used to bring lots for out and about!

Hi thanks for the advice. Unfortunately similac cannot be bought in the UK in ready made packs! Really annoying! Any advice on taking food? Sleep time?

Ah annoying! Food wise I stocked up on Ella's etc but at that age she may also really enjoy trying all the nice fruits etc there (we actually just got back from a week in Tenerife and had a great time!) - are you in a hotel or self catering? As she won't have been eating long you will only need simple stuff anyway, maybe just bring some porridge or something with you that you can mix with her formula? I always brought some trusty porridge ha!

Sleep wise, presumably you are bringing your buggy? I'd recommend one of those blackout uv covers if you don't already have one, esp if she falls asleep while you are out, just keep an eye it doesn't get too hot and stuffy in there though! Otherwise I'd be pretty relaxed about naps, the warmth will probably help too :) there isn't a time difference so you won't have to worry about that either.

I used bottled water to wash bottles, got a small cold water steriliser & tablets - size wise it did one bottle at a time, so we had one in the tub & one in use.

Food wise we took what we could with us and powdered milk to prep with bottled water.

In mainland europe we stay on uk time - so when dds went to bed at 19:00 they went to bed at 20:00 on holiday. This gave us more time in the evening and a lie-in in the morning (in theory...).

Not sure what the time is in tenerife, but i suspect this may lead to early nights on holiday, which is not ideal. Worth bearing mind for other holiday destinations though!!!

Forgot about sterilising! Yes perhaps use eg Milton cold water steriliser? Although I never liked the chemically smell / residue of it! But it does the job. I just washed bottles in the v hot water from the tap. You should still use boiled water (at least 70 degrees) to make up bottles rather than just cold bottled water (am sure you know that though!)

Thanks everyone for all your advice! We are all inclusive but think there's a kettle etc in room. Feeling a bit more confident now!Smile

Update! Just got back from tenerife and it was so much easier than I thought! Milk and food just got scanned separately at airport and baby slept for an hour on the plane when I gave her Extra milk. Baby stuff available in resort. Would highly recommend the first choice holiday villages to anyone travelling abroad with little ones for the first time! Grin
