LA to the UK with 9 month old - Dealing with Jet Lag

Any tips to deal with the jet lag. Not too worried about the journey as we have a night flight. We arrive in the UK 3pm. Shall I just to try and get him into his routine as soon as we land? And grin and bare for the next week or so?

Any advice would be great, many thanks inadvance.

We are returning home for good. I have already been home with him and actually found the jet lag worse going to the UK than coming back to LA.

I've just flown for 20 hours with my 4.5 mo baby - only an 8 hour difference - a screw up with her passport meant I had to give up my direct flight - and it's been a nightmare since we got in late on Thursday evening, about 11.30pm. She really won't settle at night, cries and cries when I put her into the cot - she had a little crib in Canada and now has a proper cot, so I think that may be part of it, the fact that she's swimming in this giant cot. Or maybe it's tiredness still, or maybe it's the day/night reversal. I just don't know. My husband and I took turns to try and sooth her to sleep from 7 to 9 this evening, but she just lay and cried, and eventually got quieter and squeezed my fingers. It's really tough.

Sorry, don't mean to frighten you! Eventually, the melatonin will be affected by the light and dark, and will release into their brains and everything will go back to normal. But it is really tough.
