Family hotel in Dubai?

Hi there

Can anyone recommend a mid-range hotel in Dubai that's suitable for a holiday with a 1 year old? Not bothered about kids clubs but would love a good pool, with a separate kids pool if possible? Google is bringing up 5 star places with infinity pools, possibly this is all there is available given the location (hard times) but it's not quite what we're after...

Stayed on Jumeirah Beach before which was seemed a good spot but happy to try elsewhere...

Any tips gratefully received!

Thanks iheart

He's just graduated to a toddler seat in the car, so one bigger than the infant carrier. I will investigate taxis and ask the hotels what they can offer.

He is still in a cot so we probably won't need a huge room... so no balcony on the rooms for families? Was hoping for one for an evening escape once he's asleep! I can see it would be a safety concern though...

No balconies unfortunately...they might have them in the Westin which is the same hotel next door I can't remember now.

I'm wondering if you could specifically ask for a balcony room...they said that they give families the rooms at the front for safety reasons but I assume it's up to your own preference.

Yes that's a good idea, will see what they say...

We always have a balcony at Mina seyahi? Just so we can sit out and read/chat/drink when the children are asleep!

We have just returned from Abu Dhabi- I found it to be much 'nicer' than Dubai.

The Hilton on the Corniche in Abu Dhabi is lovely, right on the beach, beautiful pools etc and lovely restaurants.

The Meridien in Dubai is also beautiful, didn't see the rooms tho as we just spent a day there.

We rented an apartment on the Marina, right next to the Grosvenor which is also a lovely hotel

Ah that's good bloggy

We stayed at the Eastern Mangroves Anantara Spa. Was lovely but if I go back ill probably stay around Corniche area.

Oh strange Bloggy...we've asked a couple of times and they have always said that they don't put families in rooms at the back because of the balconies. They obviously do though so you should be fine if you do decide on there Kiwi.

My DS's love the front facing rooms anyway...they play Spot the Ferrarai lol!

Just an update in case it helps anyone else- we ended up staying at the Grand Hyatt in Dubai Creek. Not exactly mid-range but we got a good deal! Beautiful hotel and good sized rooms with super king bed. No balcony but we actually didn't miss it as DS stayed on UK time so we all went to bed at the same time.

Pros: amazing swimming pools including a shaded toddler pool and some shade in the main pool all day. I haven't found an equivalent hotel in Dubai for pool facilities in my searching. Very close to airport for quick transfers.

Cons: about 20 mins by taxi from centre of Dubai so less good if you want to be out and about lots. Very very expensive to eat in the hotel (I think this is probably common to all hotels in Dubai). We raided Waitrose (in Dubai Mall) and just had one meal a day there.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions Smile

Thank you for updating your post! Really useful to hear what you did in the end!

I'm currently trying to research where to stay with DH, a 2 year old and a 5 month old. We're just wanting 2 nights as a stopover to break a long haul journey.
