Just thinking of a getaway next year as right now I could do with some sun and luxury! I can't afford it now but could have it as a savings goal for next feb.

Cuba, the Caribbean, South America, Australia (40 degrees at the moment as they have a heat wave.

Rioja123 · 11/02/2017 22:50

Thailand, Sri Lanka, Mauritius

HeadDreamer · 12/02/2017 05:48

Australia and New Zealand? It's peak summer in February.

InTheDessert · 12/02/2017 05:53

Oman. We were in the sea at New Year.
Swim in a pool, or the sea??

Itsallabout · 12/02/2017 06:29

I'm in Australia and it is high 30's at the moment. The ocean is very warm, sun, sand and swimming pools are plentiful.

Skooba · 12/02/2017 07:18

You need to look south of the equator if you want a warm holiday in Feb. So it would be the end of their summer.
I don't think Dubai would be that warm. Maybe but I lived that area years ago and I don't think we were swimming in Feb, unless heated pool. So S Africa maybe (and little time change).

The Gambia is only six hours away and no time difference. Beautiful weather and beaches in February. Not too expensive
Morocco? Ive been in March, beautiful and, again, inexpensive

Skooba · 12/02/2017 07:33

There was a political crisis in Gambia last month.

missyB1 · 12/02/2017 07:37

Cape Town will be hot (and is a lovely city with excellent beaches), but the sea is freezing there all year. But the advantage is there is very little time difference so no jet lag.

Durban has lovely warm sea but often gets summer rains.

notarehearsal · 13/02/2017 16:47

Em, apologies maybe not The Gambia then!

Artandco · 13/02/2017 16:52

Oman or Dubai

MakeItStopNeville · 13/02/2017 16:57

Puerto Rico or Costa Rica.

midsomermurderess · 15/02/2017 19:00

Things aren't great in Gambia right now. It's not just a question of ones own safety, you would certainly be holidaying in other people's misery.

We've been to the Caribbean in Feb for the last few years, with just before and the first half of half-term or the second half and just after.
The weather has been lovely, some cloudy periods but passing and still warm. In and out of the sea several times a day.

The first time we went DH won a charity auction bid for accommodation in St Lucia so we could have gone any time. We priced up going for half-term week and taking 2 kids - £7,200 for flights Shock. By going mid-week rather than at the weekend, thereby missing the peak half term travel times we paid £600 each for flights (we left the kids at home with my parents / their dad). Did the same the next two years, paying around £1,200 - £1,500 for 7/8 nights all inclusive in Antigua.

I'd be there now in a flash if we could, we'd had a look round and scoped out where we planned to go this year as well.

Frazzled74 · 18/02/2017 17:39

Thank you, I think only the canaries will be within my price range, maybe if I look for a hotel with indoor swimming pool.

My kids are in the pool at the moment. We're in Brazil.

SSYMONDS · 19/02/2017 14:56

I went to the canaries in feb and it was a bit miserable. Was not warm enough to swim and it felt v off season- everywhere empty/cold

2014newme · 19/02/2017 15:02

Caribbean.
Canaries is hit and miss in Feb.

feesh · 19/02/2017 15:08

Muscat or Dubai or Abu Dhabi

StorminaBcup · 19/02/2017 15:10

Barbados. You can get some good deals if you keep an eye on virgin holidays.

Iflyaway · 19/02/2017 15:17

The trouble is over now in Gambia because the new president has been installed. and the old one has buggered off.

Anyway, I've been about 8 times, it's a wonderful country with very friendly people. Cheap too.

And as for "holidaying in other people's misery", it's known as The Smiling Coast and you'd be helping the economy by being there. The tourism sector provides a lot of employment.

StorminaBcup · 19/02/2017 16:00

I have no idea why it has hyperlinked that, I didn't do it!

Frazzled74 · 19/02/2017 22:19

I've seen some good deals in Cape Verde, is it ok for children there? It doesn't look like there's much to do in the way of sightseeing but I think I could handle a completely relaxing winter break.
