Help! We're about to go on our first foreign holiday with dd (will be 18 mnths when we go). We're going to sorrento - bit nervous now I've read some of the other threads! We shared a room with her when she was smaller but it's getting to be a bit of a problem now. What do other people do? Thanks

We never share with ds I have to say. This means we are really limited to places where we can get a suite with it costing a mere arm and a leg rather than both arms and legs....

I just can't stand the idea of us all disturbing each other all night and of having to creep around if he is asleep.

bumping this for you as thinking of going to a hotel in the UK and staying in a family room with DS1 (5) and DS2 (2). A friend does this and stays in travelodges but the idea of us all sleeping in the same room is scary!! any experiences?

Racehel...i went to sorrento when pregnant with DS1 and it was lovely

Rachel, I liked Sorrento too... Pompeii, sigh.

Another vote though for not sharing!! I hate all that creeping about too, and also that DS knows we're right there when he wakes up (usually earlier than normal..).

What's the configuration of the place you're staying? We went to a one bed apartment with DS on holiday and put his cot in the bedroom. DH and I used the sofas in the lounge - often they are meant to be extra beds for extra people anyway and can be pulled together. Better than sharing IMO!!!

Our DS is 11 months old and we hate sharing with him. Did it once when we stayed at friends a few months ago and he was whooping away at 1.00am in the morning all ready to go.

We stay in one bedroom appartments where possible and then move DS from the cot in the bedroom to the living room when we go to bed. If we were really stuck then we have talked about putting DS in the bathroom to sleep and having a little bucket for us if we needed a pee during the night, thankfully its not come to that yet !

Its more expensive than staying in hotels and obviously restricts where we go but I am useless without sleep so it would be no holiday at all if we had to share a room.

Hope you have a good holiday.
