Disneyland Paris hotel recommendations

Anyone been to any of the Disneyland Paris hotels who can advise which one is best? I want to stay in the Disneyland Hotel and believe it's the closest but also the most expensive so just weighing up the options.

Any advice appreciated especially from anyone who has stayed in more than one and can give a comparison.

Thanks Smile

What's is like at DLP just before Christmas? We have been before (twice) but are looking at mid Dec. Is everything open as usual? But worried the restaurants etc will be shut.

We live Davy Crockett but going to fly/Eurostar this time so watching this thread with interest Smile

It's very busy before Xmas, it's not shut! 😂
Also very cold

umizoomi · 29/01/2017 22:02

It's pretty cheap though in Dec, so wondered if not a good time?

Maybe late Nov then would be better?

Has anyone ever stayed at the explorers hotel?

TheTantrumCometh · 29/01/2017 22:31

Mid December seems to be quite expensive from memory. Everything is open as it's gearing up for the highest priced season (over xmas and new year). My DS's birthday is in between the two and we'd love to go then but it's at least twice as much as going during regular season!

We've gone at the end of November before and really enjoyed it. It was a wonderful way to start the Christmas celebrations that year.

When our DC were at school we always went the week before Xmas , now we go the first week in December , and this year I'm also going for a couple of days in April or May . We've done all times of the year but love the Christmas season , I think the busiest we've found is October half term .

Thank you so much everyone who has replied - loads to consider!

I'm attracted to the Disneyland hotel just because it's closest and I guess I see it as the iconic Disney hotel! This will be DS's first visit to Disney and doubt we will be back for a while so want it to be really special - although I know that will be the case no matter where we stay!

dietcoke does that mean with premium meal plan character breakfasts/buffalo bills show etc would be covered by the meal ticket? I do definitely want to do these and when I've priced for our date meal plan is included so definitely a consideration.

We've stayed at the explorers. Wasn't great. The pool was absolutely freezing and the changing rooms Baltic - and that was in march!

Hecantbeserious...
Ooh great! Confusedmanaged to get a good deal in August staying there, hopefully it'll of warmed up by then

Toffeelatteplease · 30/01/2017 09:09

I loved my explorers but it was many years ago now and tbh id rather spend a bit more to avoid needing shuttle buses.

CotswoldStrife · 30/01/2017 09:32

The park closes a lot earlier in the winter than the summer, I'd check the opening hours for the time you want to go (it is open until 7 tonight rather than 10 in the summer, although this means less of a wait for Disney Dreams!) and also look at the website for any closed rides during the period of your visit.

It is absolutely freezing there at the moment, there was one morning last week with no characters out in EMH because it was too cold! If you've been before the fountain is frozen (they said that Elsa had visited)

Have stayed when the kids were younger in both the New York and the Disneyland hotels.
I didn't like the New York much and I thought it was poor value for money,

And yes, it's quite a hike in price to go to the Disneyland Hotel but way better value IMO. Well worth it for us. Maybe with older kids, the value isn't the same, but absolutely with younger ones.

Flora , we can do early in Dec (1st week) or later on. It is a bit quieter first week?

We have been before so have done it all just thinking before Christmas will be magical! We would do a couple of weekdays and the weekend

imjessie · 30/01/2017 12:54

I've stayed on the Santa Fe and it's a lovely walk along the canal in the
Morning and evening rather than the god awful shuttle buses .

Floralnomad · 30/01/2017 12:55

When we went in Dec2016 I think the queues were quite long , but because of the 25th anniversary some rides were still closed , which does mean more queues for the rest IYSWIM . We actually get an access pass so queues are a bit irrelevant to us . If you can manage to do more weekdays and less weekend it's certainly quieter , we used to do Mon - Fri , this year we did Wed - Sun because we needed to be there on Saturday ,, on the Saturday the Studios were heaving and the queue time for Crushs Coaster and Ratatouille were 2 hrs by the time the park had been open for 45 minutes . I specifically remember this because I rang my husband whilst the rest of our party was on Ratatouille and was telling him .

My children are bigger now and I want/ need bigger rooms to accommodate as dc can't sleep in the same bed and I don't think dd would be that keen on sharing with me either ( 13 )..
