Can you pass it on to someone else and what kind of lying would you have to do if not? Children have chicken pox and we have no insurance.

Chickenpox can be passed on - that's how it gets about so quickly! Some parents of babies and toddlers actively seek out those with chickenpox so that theirs can catch it and get it over with! This may be a small minority though! How bad is it and how long till you go? The spots may have scabbed over by the time you go and then it is no longer contagious anyway

Berrie · 25/02/2007 17:12

Oops sorry no that's so unclear! No I mean can you pass on the holiday, sell it to someone else? I would never put other pregnant women and babies at risk! Yikes that post sounds awful!

Why isn't anyone with kids with chicken pox worried about their own children getting infections through their open 'sores'. It is just as important to protect your children as others.

Berrie · 25/02/2007 17:22

Yep, sorry just to make clear, we are not thinking of going, I just want to know if it's possible to sell the holiday!

when are you going? Bet you could sell it. Have you contacted centre parcs? You could ask someone to contact them to see if they can change holiday etc... must be something you can do? It may be wanted by someone? Is it a busy time you're going?

Berrie · 25/02/2007 17:41

We are going in a fortnight. DS has just started spots meaning that dd should have got it from him in 14-21 days time. Even if she doesn't have spots she might still be infectious the day before spots.

Ok, but if she isn't spotty will you go? Just in my opinon you just never know when kids have something or are carrying something. Plus, I think it's german measles that's especially bad for pg mothers isn't it?

But sounds like you want to get out of it. Hope you can sell it on or get center parcs to for you?

Berrie · 25/02/2007 20:30

Thanks, no we're really looking forward to it. Dh is still really keen to go but I have this karma thing...I wouldn't want to do to others what I don't want them to do to me! We'll see. Maybe we will go. Terms and conditions on centre parcs site clearly says tht they have the right to cancel your booking or exclude you from some activities...

my dss didn't get it at the same time. DD may have already had a mild dose? Or carried it? Try not to worry.

car25 · 05/03/2007 12:39

Berrie, what was the outcome, would Centerparcs rebook you without charge even if you didn't have insurance? Or would you just have to lose the lot?

Thunderpants · 11/03/2007 20:20

I think chickenpox is only dangerous for pregnant women if they have close contact with an infected person in the last weeks of pregnancy (my DD had it when I was about 8 weeks pregnant). I'd say it's always best for children to get it over and done with, as I had it at 19 and it was horrendous. I'd still go on your holiday if your child is feeling up to it, just make sure she doesn't sneeze on anyone with a very large bump
