I want a beach holiday in europe basically.

I'll be going with my two teenage sons so a bit of buzz would be nice but definitely nowhere like magaluf/san antonio etc

nice restaurants, bars etc

we've loved puerto pollensa, liked nerja, really liked corfu

finding flights to greece/cyprus too expensive this year

not turkey/egypt/tunisia

any ideas?

Gozo, lots of lovely traditional gozitan houses to rent, its very quaint, and lovely to explore.

We love the Costa Brava and further down the coast nearer Barcelona - some lovely little coves with gorgeous beaches for lazing about on (also what I look forward to most ) . I think it's fairly cheap to fly to . We normally go by train .

I know you said Greece was expensive but have you looked into the part that the Greeks holiday in... Peloponnese region? There's flights from Gatwick and Heathrow, takes about an hour to get to the coast from airport... Lots of fantastic public beaches, reasonable hotels (as long as you avoid eye-watering Westin) and for bit of history, you have Sparta an hour and half inland.

Google voidokilia bay

can anyone recommend a holiday destination please?

Sorry one more because googling the entire region is a nightmare...

Gialova - trendy, very small little town with lots of self catering options, near the beach above. Also about 5 min from the posh westin. Supermarket prices were inflated tourist prices, so best to do a big shop at the Lidl you pass about 5 minutes into your drive away from airport.

Pylos - I didn't care for this town because lot of "seafront" hotels were more like side of a cliff, road, then sliver of a beach.

Methoni - very cool. We didn't spend as much time here as we liked, but it was less expensive than Gialova (a beer on the beach lounger for example). Old fort that's breathtaking, large public square, lovely hotel right on the beach that isn't too pricey. Very authentic. Lots of self catering options too, from the apartment signs.

I second the Peloponnese. Have you looked at flights to Kalamata?

No worries, means more space on the Benidorm beach for me root. Salou and Tenerife I also like. Have been to corralejo that people are recommending and I was bored stiff so it shows people like different things. The hotel we stayed at there was very good and reasonable though

Playa Blanca or Old Town (Western) end of Puerto del Carmen in Lanzarote or northern Spain around Barcelona up to near the French border (Estartit, Tossa de Mar).

We've had a couple of nice holidays in Javea, Costa Blanca, we fly into Valencia but Alicante is about the same distance. We've stayed in town near the port and out of town in the Montgo area. Javea is quite a large resort, lots of expats I think but still feels like Spain especially in the port and old town areas. The beach area has lots of bars and restaurants and a nice promenade along the sandy beach. We also found a nice cove for snorkelling at Playa Granadella, few miles out of town (gets very busy though, get there early). Our kids are younger but has everything we needed for a good holiday, wide range of accommodation available, we've rented a villa and also an apartment with shared pool. Other pleasant places to visit nearby - Denia (we stayed here once too) and Moraira. We've been to Puerto Pollensa twice and loved it, and have booked Nerja for this summer! (Any tips gratefully received!)
