I'd like some Easyjet advice...

I fly with Easyjet regularly but have never come across this scenario before... we're fyling to Rome for a week and will need to take dd's pushchair and car seat (and possibly travel cot). I foundon the website that pushchairs are exempt from baggage charges but does anybody know if this also applies to car seats? We're going for a wedding so will have wedding clothes, presents etc as well as all the usual child-related paraphernalia and clothes for us if they fit in so I'm not sure the car seat will fit in a case or within their weight restrictions.
Anyone help? IF necessary we can hire a car seat from the car hire company but would rahter take our own.
TIA

i would imagine your travel cot would be part of your baggage allowance, we're flying with a charter in the summer and they take it as allowance.
Not sure about car seat though, what sort is it (how old is your dd), we took ours with BA but it was a first size car seat that attached to the pushchair so we got away with it

We flew with Easyjet a couple of years ago. Took the car seat (was baby car seat as DS2 was 3 months at the time). We put the car seat through as 'large hand luggage' and was not charged extra....

although..... they lost it we had to wait hours at the other end and eventually had to hire a car seat and claim the money back. Was a real PITA. It eventually turned up 5 days later (we were only on holiday for a week!)

Wished we had taken it on board the aeroplane now. Apparenty you can do that.... take it right through.. give it to the staff just as you board... they 'keep it safe' on the plane for you and hand it to you as you get off the other end. Apparently, I am told, you can also do this with buggies.

Thanks for advice.
Dd is just 3 and we can only use her car seat on the flight up to 3rd birthday.
In the past we have taken her buggy up to the plane steps and it's worked OK but I just can't find out about the car seat!

Mamazon/Anyone got an answer yet?

babypowder · 14/04/2007 11:46

Does anyone know the answer to this? I'm flying easyjet in May with a 4 yo and a 5mo. I'd like to be able to take a car seat for the little one (and a booster for the big one, if poss)

catmac · 14/04/2007 12:05

You are allowed both the booster and the car seat. HOWEVER since your youngest is only four months he/she is expected to sit on your lap, (you have not I pressume bought him/her a seat) therefore if the plane is full there will be no space for the car seat.
I'm pretty sure about this cuz my boyfriend works for them as a steward and have also been in your situation.
Car seats are exempt from baggage charges.
