Yes another Disney thread, we got a bargain in October (beginning of).

My biggest concern is the food, my dd is the fussiest eater. hates chips-i Know its odd.
Are there any supermarkets in the shopping areas? where we can get bread rolls, butter,etc.. to smuggle into the park?

Also, as we are sharing a room, where can I buy wine for me and nan, when dearest has hopefully nodded off!!

Hi,

Where are you staying. If it's the Santa Fe or Cheyenne take some tea bags as they dont have them in the room. Food is all hotdogs and the likes and it is very expensive. We took sandwich bags and then took some rolls, meat and croissonts (sp?) from the breakfast hall for the kids snack as we were walking around. No supermarkets im afraid! Also worth taking plastic bottles and filling up in breakfast hall of your on a real budget!

Hiya - We've just come back and didn't find it too hard. We stayed at the Cheyenne and had a really big breakfast so weren't too bothered about lunch and then ate out at night. There are lots of different places to eat. Some expensive, some average. Not everything is fast food, there are some nice sandwich/baguette shops on Main Street.

You can pinch stuff from the breakfast halls though, they have bread rolls with hams/salami/butter/jam/choc spread etc

melaniec234 £300???? for 4 of you????

pirategirl · 13/02/2007 21:51

HI,
yes the santa fe, looks like it is robbed of its breakfasts regularly then!! I am also going to take lots of fave biscuit type snacks in suitcase.

I am going 1st oct, me mum and dd 4.it is a september saver (yes i know its oct, but think it counts up til 3rd or something)I waslooking for further into oct thinking it would be cheaper, but no!! My original departure date was a 4 nights for the price of 3 and was more expensive. yet that could have alos been cos of my arrival day at Disney iyswim.

Anyhow, its £358, including hotel for 4 nights and 5 day pass.
We are flying from local airport, saves the hassle.

zephyrcat · 14/02/2007 11:25

£358 is really good!!! We booked via going places using kids go free for 4 nights/5 days on Eurostar and it cost us £700!

zephyrcat · 14/02/2007 11:26

mc234 I've just come in from town and noticed that one of the travel agents is doing deals on eurodisney just now - I think it was Thomas Cook... definately shop around though. I think prices vary a fair bit depending on what days you are there - ie it will go up slightly if you are there over a weekend.

On the ring road which goes round the hotels there is a garage with a mini supermarket in. They definitely sell beer and I'm sure they sell wine too. We also got diet cokes and snacks for far less than in the hotels.

In Fantasyland there is a restaurant, the Bella Notte I think which is fast food but Italian and much nicer than the burger bars. You can get either pasta or pizza with garlic bread for the price of a fast food meal.

Also if you're bringing a car there is a big supermarket in the shopping mall (where the outlet and the aquarium is).
Have a great time, we're going in 4 weeks!

You can get a bus from Disney to Val D'europe which is a huge shopping centre with a hypermarket. We bought most of our food there (although we were staying at a self-catering place just round the corner) and saved ourselves a lot of money!

They have more choice of food than any supermarket I've seen over here so you should be able to find something there!

zephyrcat · 14/02/2007 21:23

pirategirl is your dd 4? We found that the days are long and it is hard work and to be honest there's no way we could have included going searching for supermarkets - although that was my original plan!!

crunchie · 14/02/2007 21:38

Pirategirl we nabbed food from teh breakfast table for lunch like the others and then one evening bought a bottle of wine at eh hotel bar and kept it in the room for a glass or so everynight. TBH you will be exhuasted anyway and probably be alseep at the same time as everyone else!!

bigfatbump · 15/02/2007 10:52

I think the petrol station is towards the Cheyenne and Santa Fe. I'm trying to remember which way we turned out of the Sequioia Lodge, dh certainly walked there one evening.

I would definitely agree about being tired at the end of the day. We had wine with dinner and were usually asleep by 10 most nights!
