Tips for 4 days in Barcelona

Travelling to Barcelona next week for 4 days with DC 13 and 11. Have a rough itinerary planned but looking for other general hints and tips. Much appreciated!

our teens really enjoyed Barcelona. we spent a bit time around the beach area, did the bus trip around and there is a lot to see and do we found and it was very easy to get around and very easy for eating out. didn't like las ramblas though. seemed full of street husslers and pick pockets.

Parc Guell, La Boqueria market on Las Ramblas (but not the rest of it, agree with what PP said), a walk around the Gothic Quarter to see the old buildings and graffiti, a trip to the Jewish Cemetery and cable car, and a trip to the Olympic park.

For food, there are lots of restaurants on the waterfront near Barceloneta station, with nice views over the water. Tourist-friendly, but not rip off places. There is also a lovely beach there, near the W hotel. You can walk from there all the way back into the city centre (near the Arts Hotel) although part of it is a nudist beach (but it is signposted and away from the pavement)

Just back from 5 days with a 12, 11 and 8 year old Really recommend the area around Barceloneta and the restaurants there.
If they are footie fans Camp Nou tour is not to be missed.
Casa Batllo was fantastic with fantastic use of technology to explain the house.
Avoid the aquarium. We thought it was hugely overpriced for the 65 mins it took us to go round.
Didn't like las ramblas. Beware of going to Olympic park as not restaurants up there.
Cable car looked good although due to vertigo sufferers we didn't go. We didn't go to the castle on the top of the mountain but so many people recommended it.
We found the metro pretty good and reliable for getting around.
Tapas fab and wine too!!

Get the funicular from parallel to the cable car then up to the castle. Walk back to the cable car that takes you to the port (don't do this the other way as queues are massive).

Market Catarina is better for eating than the main one-less busy and cheaper.
Get train to sitges too.
We really enjoyed it this week.

We've just got back with 2 DD age 13. Had a great time.

Recommend the Sagrada Familia and Casa Battlo - well worth booking tickets for both online in advance, it saved us loads of time.

Get out of the city for a day and head up the coast to eg Cadaques, Roses, Llafranc. Barcelona and the full-on tourism there can get a bit wearing.

Tibidabo park with teens

I enjoyed the Museu National d'Art de Catalunya, on Montjuic - great medieval frescos peeled off churches in the Catalan hills to preserve them in the early 20th century, lots to see there and when we went the children were free and you could re-use the entrance ticket on a second day.

Also the Miro Foundation, which is a beautiful building in itself even if Miro is not your thing

you could eat on the top of the Arena (former bull ring now shopping centre) on Plaza Espana (I think!)

oh yes, also 'Blai Tonight' for tapas
